Job Description
DCI Group is currently seeking to fill the position of Account Executive in our Client Services division with a strong focus in media relations.
General responsibilities include: outreach to print, radio and TV reporters and producers, extensive writing and messaging, developing new reporter relationships on behalf of our clients, coordinating media-related events, managing tasks on several client projects concurrently and interacting with internal client services teams on a daily basis with ease, comfort and professionalism.
The Account Executive will be required to:
- Manage and administer the activities of assigned accounts or industry segments in accordance with DCI policies and client objectives
- Manage complex issue media campaigns, including creation and execution of strategic public relations plans
- Pitch DC reporters on issues and events related to our clients
Qualifications
- Three to five years experience in media relations and public affairs
- Background in public relations and media outreach
- Established reporter relationships among DC media outlets
- PR firm/agency experience preferred
- Previous telecommunications experience is a plus
The successful candidate must be self motivated, creative, and highly organized with great interpersonal skills. Furthermore, the candidate must be able to demonstrate solid written and verbal communication skills. Finally, it is essential that the individual selected for this position be able to quickly establish rapport, credibility, trust, and respect throughout the organization and be viewed as a highly collaborative team player.
The ideal candidate would possess the following skills:
- Complex project management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently
- Ability to prepare and present complex materials or issues before a wide variety of audiences
- Great interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of communication styles
- Willingness to travel domestically (10%)
