Cloud DevOps Architect (CloudOps, IaaS, Azure)
- Full-time
Company Description
10th Magnitude is a cloud software and services firm that exists at the critical crossroads of cutting-edge technology and exceptional user experience. We develop custom software applications, provide application management and enable Microsoft Azure migration to help businesses of all sizes innovate and compete more effectively.
We are a new breed of Microsoft Partner called Born in the Cloud (BiC), and all we do is Azure related engagements. We are leading the adoption of Azure by organizations across the Chicago area. We sit on Microsoft’s newly created Born in the Cloud advisory council and have direct access to top-level Azure product and technical contacts.
Job Description
Learn how to use Microsoft Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) to migrate, build, and run enterprise applications in the cloud. 10th Magnitude is one of the top Azure consultancies in the country, and our clients are looking for our expertise to help them migrate their applications to hybrid and public IaaS. If you have serious experience with the server and network infrastructures required to run high-performing corporate applications then we want to give you the ability to help grow and lead one of our fastest growing practice areas. Azure experience is not required, we’ll train you in the fundamentals, but a passion for helping clients succeed in the cloud is required. The candidate must also be comfortable cultivating our Microsoft Partner and Born in the Cloud relationships to make sure we continue to master the latest Azure technical developments, and keep our skills cutting edge–constant curiosity and improvement is a must.
Responsibilities
As a Cloud DevOps Architect, you will take personal ownership for the delivery of our IaaS application migration engagements, from 5 day quickstarts to full-blown enterprise portfolio migrations. Your responsibilities will include:
- QuickStart Engagement. You will lead hands on workshops with our clients who are just beginning the journey into the cloud. You’ll help them understand the basics of the platform, do initial planning on how to migrate their applications and deploy initial hybrid workloads (configuring VPNs, setting up operating portals, and deploying IaaS VMs). The final step is moving and testing an actual production workload.
- Migration Management and Execution. You will be responsible for working directly with our clients to plan and implement their entire application portfolio migration to Azure. This includes assessing their ability to move, deploying the appropriate infrastructure, performance testing, and documenting operational changes.
- Account Management and Planning. IaaS is the first of many cloud capabilities which our clients rely on us to help them utilize. You will lead our clients to explore how they can take advantage of the complete Azure platform starting with IaaS, but eventually incorporating Platform as a Service (PaaS) for new applications, and Azure Mobile Services for mobility solutions. You will need to architect their roadmap and help them embrace the vision. A knowledge of application development is a must.
- Performance Testing. Prior to certifying an application to run on IaaS, you must administer a full battery of testing to ensure appropriate performance.
- Vision and Architecture. You must be able to impart to our clients how advanced cloud architectures using both IaaS and PaaS will enhance their agility and ability to rapidly deliver solutions to their organization.
- Facilitate technical discussions and white boarding for project migration and technical solutions.
- Produce and manage client-facing documentation.
- Conduct implementation pilots and help customers envision complete solution.
