Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineering Department Manager to join our B+P Business Line in our Arlington, VA office. This position will oversee vertical structural design technical work, monitor staffing and provide business development assistance. Experience with federal agencies is highly desired.
The ideal candidate will perform the following:
- Oversee hiring, monitor staffing and conduct performance evaluations
- Lead the staff by offering technical guidance
- Mentor staff to facilitate career development
- Manage multiple design projects from inception to completion, ranging in contract value and complexity
- Advise project teams on technical issues, perform deliverable quality reviews, report on project status, and deliver design on schedule and within budget
- Coordinate design elements with other task leaders and/or group managers
- Lead, monitor and review design deliverables such as calculations, reports, models, construction cost estimates, construction drawings and specifications
- Develop scopes of work and price proposals
- Verify software usage for efficient design and coordination
- Participate in project negotiations with clients
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through performance, service and effective communication
- Manage complex technical work independently while mentoring and guiding less experienced team members
- Participate in regional structural engineering meetings and effectively communicate workload requirements to the Engineering Manager and manage resources on projects
- Enhance client relationships

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Structural Engineering or similar field plus eight (8) years of related experience overseeing vertical structural design technical work or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- U.S. Citizenship is required for this position
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project management experience
- Professional experience using standard industry Structural Engineering software?
- Professional experience working on Federal Government projects
- Ten (10) years of professional Structural Engineering experience
