Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to be based in Columbia, SC. Additional locations are Greenville, SC, Charlotte, NC, or Charleston, SC.
This position is expected to begin in May 2025.
As a Civil Engineering Intern with growing technical expertise and experience in demanding design driven projects, you will work with interdisciplinary teams on High Tech and Logistics Projects in a Programmatic approach. Our South Carolina teams focus on providing design services in the Industrial and High Tech and Logistics market for projects such as data centers, logistics centers, and industrial facilities.
Job Summary/Responsibilities:
The Engineering Intern will work on High Tech and Logistics Industrial facility type projects that are designed in the South Carolina Regional B+P group with a focus on the civil aspects of the design including grading, drainage, and utilities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Performs some or part of Drainage system design
- Preparation of some or part of permits such as NPDES, SWPPP etc.
- Preparation of some or part of Civil Engineering Construction Documents in AutoCad Civil 3D
- Be familiar with Office products including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Preparation of some or part of design specifications
- Prepares some or part of detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations
- Works with other professional staff members to prepare on reports, studies, drawings, and design narratives
- Working in an office setting with potential meetings outside of the office or visits to sites where a project may be located
- Performs all aforementioned responsibilities with guidance from more senior
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Candidate must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Must have completed at least one year of study in the applicable program.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent Communication skills.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Prior internship experience.

- This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in Columbia, SC or Charlotte, NC. The selected candidate must be available to work in Columbia, SC or Charlotte, NC on a scheduled basis.
