Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Remediation Engineer for employment in the New England area. This position could report to the Manchester, NH, Chelmsford or Boston, MA offices or the Providence, RI office. In this role, you will perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer with this office and partner offices throughout the Northeast. This position would support the Environmental business line, primarily working on CERCLA, EPA and Department of Defense (DoD) projects.
Responsibilities of this position, include the following:
- Serve as task lead for remediation activities including planning and oversight of remediation construction (e.g., landfill construction/capping, sediment remediation, soil excavation, in-situ treatment, treatability studies), remedial design, review and reporting
- Gather and correlate engineering and scientific data using established and well-defined procedures
- Prepare technical work plans and reports
- Coordinate with task and project managers, work with on-site subcontractors and field staff, support environmental sampling, data collection, and field documentation.
- Understand hazard recognition during environmental investigation and remediation activities
- Travel to various job sites within the US
- Flexible to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety (H&S)
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Environmental or Civil), + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience
- Valid U.S. Driver's License
- Candidate must be able to provide proof of US Citizenship
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years of Remediation Engineering experience on CERCLA / DOD sites
- Experience with both design and oversight of field implementation of remedies including excavation, capping, in-situ treatment of soils and/or groundwater, sediment remediation and bench and pilot scale treatability studies for remedial technologies.
- Engineer in Training, and on tract to obtain Professional Engineering license within 2 to 3 years
- Familiarity with QA/QC requirements for CERCLA Remediation on EPA and DOD sites
- Experience with remedial construction oversight, resident engineering.
- Strong technical report writing skills and the ability to develop design specifications. Knowledge of SpecsIntact, UFGS specification format preferred.
- Ability to assist with the preparation of cost estimates for remediation plans and activities
- Must be able to travel for 1-2 weeks at a time, periodically
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word programs
- Candidate must be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA medical surveillance physical examination
- 40-hour HAZWOPER training
- Familiarity with EPA and USACE requirements for Health and Safety and QA/QC
- OSHA 10-hr or 30-hr Construction H&S certification
- First Aid/CPR training
