Job Description
AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join our Novi, Michigan Remediation team. We are seeking candidates who will be able to immediately contribute to the successful delivery of existing projects. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting, design, and implementation services to our key clients. AECOM is seeking a candidate who has a technical background in the environmental investigation/remediation consulting industry and who would like to grow their career into becoming an Environmental Project Manager.
Responsibilities for this position may include the following:
- Task management and lead teams for field activities consisting of air, soil vapor, soil, and groundwater sample collection, geologic logging (unconsolidated sediments and bedrock), and interpretation.
- Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop remedial approaches for soil and groundwater impact, including feasibility studies, removal action work plans, and remediation design plans.
- Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Preparation of written reports including Part 213 Final Assessment Reports, Closure Reports, Environmental License Agreements, and Public Highway Institutional Controls.
- Preparation and implementation of work plans, cost estimates, data compilation/analysis, and report preparation.
- Preparation of proposals and cost estimates for new opportunities.
- Execute fieldwork by directing and overseeing individual or multiple contractors (laboratory, drillers, surveyors, excavation contractors).
- Liaison with site facilities, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
- Health and safety planning and hazard recognition.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable meeting with clients, regulatory case managers, colleagues, and sub-contractors alike.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- B.S. in the geology, environmental sciences, environmental engineering or related field and a minimum 4+ years of experience in environmental remediation consulting industry (private or public), with at least 2 years of task management/project management experience.
- US Citizen
- This role is subject to a background check, MVR check, Dru/Alcohol check, and enrollment in a Medical Surveillance program
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
- 6+ years of experience in environmental remediation consulting industry (private or public).
- Part 213 experience
- Able to obtain PE or PG certification within 12 months of accepting position (if applicable).
- Experience working on environmental remediation projects including field sampling, data analysis, report writing, task management, cost estimate and proposal development, project implementation and execution.
- Experience implementing rigorous safety standards and ensuring compliance.
- Experience working within a dynamic team framework, in-person, and virtual settings.
- Experience with environmental remediation systems (SVE, Excavation, ISCO, etc.).
- Experience implementing various remedial strategies to achieve No Further Remediation (in-situ remediation, institutional, engineering, and administrative controls).
- Strong research and report writing (including web-based research).
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Strong quality and time management.
- Self-starter, develops and delivers work under own initiative.
- Solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work.
- Interest in performing various business development activities.
