Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Structures Engineer to be based in Fresno, CA.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Structures Engineer (construction support) supports the technical coordination between the Engineering Services Branch, the Construction Package (CP), Project and Construction Management (PCM) teams as well as Infrastructure Delivery (ID) branch and assist with the development, recommendation, and implementation of polices in relation to civil engineering standards and technical requirements in coordination with other Branches and relevant stakeholders. The main tasks for this position are to support the technical review of the Quality Milestone Data Pack (QMDP) for project handover, construction Objective evidence, and As-built documentation. Other tasks include working with Asset Management to provide technical oversight of Assets stored in Maximo to provide a level of technical verification that Asset Management is accurately capturing all elements being constructed and included in as-builts. This person may be asked to attend, schedule, and run meetings on an as needed basis with various groups including PCMs, ICE/ISE, and Design Build (DB) Contractors to support the active construction in the Central Valley. The employee works in the Engineering Services Branch.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Technical review of the Technical Contract Requirements (TCRs), Quality Milestone Data Pack (QMDP) for project handover, construction Objective Evidence, and As-built documentation.
- Coordination with Asset Management to provide technical oversight of Assets stored in Maximo to provide a level of technical verification that Asset Management is capturing all elements being constructed and included in as-builts.
- Attend, schedule, and lead meetings on an as needed basis with various PCMs, ICE/ISE, and Design Build (DB) Contractor to support the active construction in the Central Valley.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of principles and practices of high-speed rail project
- Experience working with Contractors and Construction Managers to solve issues from the field in a timely manner
- Ability to read and interpret complex bridge and civil plans and design criteria
- Ability to read and interpret construction specifications to determine conformance
- Experience reviewing concrete mix designs, shop drawings, material certifications, testing results and other construction Objective Evidence to determine conformance
- Understanding of process to produce final as-builts
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally across a variety of team members
- Ability to collaborate with a wide range of personnel, lead meetings, and represent the Authority’s Engineering Services Branch
- Ability to review inspection field reports and Quality Assessment reports and provide recommendations to the Authority
- HSR civil, track and system design and construction experience
- Proficiency and knowledge of computer software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Visio
- Knowledge of and ability to apply engineering judgment in areas of design and construction engineering on transportation projects
