Job Description

The Engineer is responsible for developing designs through various project stages, undertakes coordination and carries out design documentation while working as part of the project team. They Perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment as an experienced engineer. Furthermore, they guide Candidate Engineers, provide design input to the CAD/BIM technicians, and work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and tests. 

Technical Excellence:
- Contributes to the development of technical proposals.
- Develops design by gathering, correlating and analysing engineering data using computer software and established procedures and standards.
- When possible, collects and analyses information from discipline and interdisciplinary project BIM models.
- Fully develops the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure the production of high-quality outputs by following project timelines.
- Participates in the interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables, including BIM spatial reviews (virtual walkthroughs and clash detection).
- Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations, specifications, sketches, diagrams, specific discipline BIM models, drawings, reports and tender documents.
- Identifies discrepancies in results and proposes an approach to solving new problems encountered.
- Performs work under the agreed-upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
- Coordinates with other discipline Engineers as applicable for the design process's continuity.
- Maintains and develops the highest level of technical skills and abilities, ensuring the quality of model production by BIM/CAD teams for accuracy to design instructions.
- Coordinates with authorities for scheme approvals.  
- Proficient in BIM Software Revit (Advantageous)

- Detailed Electrical Engineering of LV and MV systems including the development and checking of:

  • Load Lists

  • Single Line Diagrams

  • Network Diagrams

  • Electrical Schematic Diagrams

  • Hazardous Area Classification

  • Diversification and Load factors.

  • Electrical Network Design

  • Fault Level Calculations

  • Protection Schemes modelling of protection schemes and definition of Protection settings.

  • Power Metering specification and interface to Energy / Building Management Systems.

  • Cable Routing Design

  • Cable Sizing Calculations

  • Lighting Calculations, modelling and layouts.

  • Earthing Risk Assessments, earthing system design, Earthing layouts.

  • Specification of Electrical Equipment including, Switchgear, Distribution Boards, Motor Control Centres, Transformers, , UPS’s, Cables, Lighting, etc.

  • Specification of Construction Standards of installation.         

                                                                 
Client Relationship Management:

  • Begins to participate in client meetings to discuss project requirements, explain/defend work, etc.

Qualifications

  • 4+ Years' experience after obtainment of Qualification within the built environment

  • B-Degree or M-Degree from an accredited University.  Registered as a Candidate Engineer with ECSA
