Job Description
AECOM is seeking an experienced Environmental Planner to join our team in Ontario. In this role, you will manage and deliver complex environmental planning and compliance projects across various sectors. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure projects meet regulatory requirements, align with client goals, and contribute to sustainable development throughout Ontario.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of environmental assessments, permitting applications, and technical reports in compliance with Ontario’s regulatory frameworks, including the Environmental Assessment Act and related legislation.
- Develop and implement strategies to address environmental, social, and regulatory requirements for projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, Indigenous communities, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure timely and high-quality outcomes.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members and contribute to team development.
- Stay updated on Ontario and federal environmental regulations, policies, and trends.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Ecology, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in environmental planning, permitting, or related roles.
- Strong understanding of Ontario’s environmental regulations and policies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including stakeholder engagement experience.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in environmental planning or related fields.
- Experience working on environmental assessments under Ontario’s Environmental Assessment Act and federal Impact Assessment Act.
- Knowledge of GIS, environmental modeling, or other relevant technical tools.
- Certifications such as CEP, RPP, or equivalent are an asset.
- Experience engaging with Indigenous communities and conducting public consultation processes.
