Job Description

We have an opportunity for a consultant to join our team in Glasgow.  You will be joining a great team; you will have an interesting and diverse workload and you will be given the opportunity to make the most of your abilities.

We have an impressive portfolio of involvement in major infrastructure projects, including lead roles in the consenting and delivery of projects for clients such as Transport Scotland, Network Rail and a range of energy clients. We are currently leading on planning applications for renewables and wider energy/electricity related infrastructure, transport including active travel, defence and much more, involved with planning policy projects and work closely with our engineering and multidisciplinary teams. 

Here’s what you’ll do:

You will be joining a market leading, experienced infrastructure planning team and will, be given the following responsibilities.

Project Coordination and Delivery

  • Assisting in the management and successful delivery of major development applications, including coordinating multi-disciplinary teams across various project types.
  • Assisting with project management and implementing quality and health and safety principles.

Planning Advisory and Analysis

  • Providing planning advice to colleagues and clients on planning policy, consent requirements, and the application of permitted development rights.
  • Carrying out planning research and analysis and assisting with planning feasibility reports and consent strategies.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Writing Planning Statements and Design and Access Statements for development applications.
  • Contributing to the preparation of successful commercial tenders.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Liaising with the Environmental Impact Assessment team.
  • Participating in internal and external meetings.

Strategic Input and Compliance

  • Supporting the application of planning policies and strategies within a framework of quality, health, and safety standards.

  • Sound knowledge of Scottish planning policy and legislation
  • Demonstrable and relevant experience of working on planning applications
  • Client focus, with good interpersonal skills and collaborative working approach
  • High level of commitment to quality
  • Commercial awareness
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and under pressure
  • Competence in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Project
