Job Description

AECOM is looking for a Civil Engineering Graduate - Transportation and Rail to be based out of our Calgary, AB office, with work from home flexibility.

This will be a full-time role expected to begin January 2025 to July 2025.

Daily tasks may include:

  • Multi-task and balance constantly evolving priorities, always remaining highly organized.
  • Maintain and control project documentation and records, including ensuring all project related documentation is on file.
  • Railway and design and review in 2D and 3D using Civil3D and/or other software
  • Performs site visits to monitor progress and to interface with stakeholders to ensure the Client's interests are protected.
  • Project management which may include preparing and managing scopes, schedules, and budgets, reviewing documents, conducting and attending meetings, taking meeting minutes, site visits, reporting, preparing bid documents, preparing and updating risk management documentation, providing oversight to projects during construction, contract administration (invoice review, progress payment review and endorsement, preparation of project closeout documents, submittal review), and material ordering.
  • Providing engineering support to various railway or transportation teams.
  • Developing/reviewing design drawings and tender packages.
  • Cost estimating.
  • Participate in training, meetings and audits as required.
  • Perform field inspections of track and civil works.
  • Providing on-call services including emergency response (providing engineering support on-site in real-time)
  • Reviewing work on-site for general conformity to plans, specifications, regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Tracking weekly hours worked for various project and tasks

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EIT and Project Management experience.
  • Eligible for EIT status in Canada
  • Experience performing Survey, Concrete & Soil Testing, and Construction QA/QC.
  • Civil3D experience for linear civil infrastructure such as highways or railways.
  • CPKC or CN project experience or exposure to other railways.
  • Experience or understanding of drainage design practices.
  • Familiar with AREMA standards.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications – Word, Excel
  • Mix of field and office-based experience in linear civil infrastructure.
  • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously from inception to closeout.
