Job Description

The MEP South East team are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer, this is a Hybrid role based out of our amazing Aldgate Tower offices in London.

The role will support multiple projects and teams with direct design and delivery activities. We are looking for candidates that are experienced in the delivery of all phases of a project from inception to completion.

The core responsibilities for this role are to: 

  • Coordinate and manage small - mid size project teams of discipline led engineers
  • Provide specialised technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise
  • Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others
  • Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
  • Prepare rule of thumb services engineering cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects
  • Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings
  • Prepare technical specification sections
  • Provide input to the development of the engineering budget and schedule and oversees technical resources to meet requirements
  • Contribute to the development of technical proposals
  • Provide support at all stages of the design process on related projects – In particular bring specialist insight into the concept design stage to ensure the subsequent design stages are developed with a winning strategy and appropriate level of innovation.
  • Participate in design and coordination meetings.
  • Prepare outline scheme report / technical content of the design information, arrange QA and Peer review prior to issue of deliverables to external parties.
  • Input to pre-qualification and selection of contractors, respond to tender queries, comment and review tender returns.
  • Attend tender / client interviews. Attend site inspection meetings.
  • Obtain the necessary information both internally and externally from Architects, Cost Consultants and Design Consultants for the design to proceed.
  • Liaise with clients, professional organizations, contractors, suppliers, sub-contractors and other design team members.
  • Identify and meet effectively the requirements and expectations of clients.

Knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques and procedures is essential for this role. We are interested in candidates that are conversant with engineering design tools/software as listed below:

  • REVIT
  • AutoCAD
  • Microstation
  • Hevacomp
  • IES

Qualifications

BSc or BEng in an Engineering degree or MEng in an Engineering degree with engineering accreditation (CEng or equivalent) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
