Job Description
Reporting to the Canada Regional Strategy & Growth Lead, the Vice President, Federal Government Services, Canada will lead, direct, coordinate and provide expert advice on a range of strategic planning and business development initiatives across Canada focusing on key federal government departments, agencies and crown corporations. This includes identifying and working with our business lines, AECOM’s National Government Business Development Team and with Canadian Federal Government Client Account Managers to target and successfully capitalize on future growth opportunities.
The Vice President, Federal Government Services, Canada will facilitate, develop and monitor regional strategic plans that articulate the blueprint to guide future growth and aligned with this they will develop a proactive government relations strategy focused on leading business development and client account management programs.
The role will have responsibility for the Canadian Federal Government Client Account Management (CAM) Programs and is expected to assist where appropriate with communication strategies, capture planning bidding and project delivery, reports, correspondence or presentations to achieve account objectives.
The role will develop structured client engagement and client satisfaction strategies to prioritize client care within the federal government CAM program. This will include a program for client listening and regular contact prior to, during and after project completion to garner feedback for continuous improvement.
The Vice President, Federal Government Services, Canada will recommend and promote new partnership opportunities and facilitate existing partnerships at a senior level to support AECOM’s strategic growth priorities. They will also assist with representation on various relevant external committees, task forces, study committees and advisory councils for the purpose of gaining market intelligence, customer networking and improved profile.
The Vice President, Federal Government Services, Canada must be able to build trust and develop and maintain client and community relationships and partnerships in a business context; and demonstrate political acuity and sound judgement. This may include leading and/or supporting claim and issue resolution on complicated matters affecting client satisfaction and resulting in recommendations for business improvement as appropriate.
As well as having access to highly sensitive information the advice provided by this role is frequently sensitive and highly confidential and this leader is expected to demonstrate the highest level of ethics and integrity in their handling of information, in their dealings and as a leader.
It is essential that the candidate is clearly aware of the direction and mandate of the senior executive and engages and seeks approval regarding strategic projects or directions that would involve significant change in resources or the release of information or reports.
The incumbent will analyse and respond to a variety of time sensitive issues, requiring flexibility and the ability to organise resources to provide strategic advice.
Accountabilities
- As defined by the Regional Strategy and Growth Lead, lead strategic priority areas associated with growing our business with the Canadian Federal Government.
- Undertake thorough market analysis to identify strategic growth opportunities and set a compelling vision for growing AECOM’s services with the Canadian Federal Government.
- Monitor municipal, provincial and federal programs and guidelines to determine areas of opportunity for business growth; develop relationships with key public officials and create a strategic plan to pursue opportunities and lead implementation of the strategy.
- Work with all business lines to establish strategic growth priorities, objectives, targets and actions; and work collaboratively to deliver on these commitments.
- Promote and facilitate collaboration within and across business lines, consulting with leaders and developing action plans to meet specified strategic objectives and chairing and/or participating in capture and project delivery teams as required, to deliver successful outcomes.
- Build trust, develop and maintain client, government, community and other strategic partnerships, and effectively coordinate these engagement efforts with other business leaders.
- Advise on project pursuit and positioning strategies and provide coaching for business development and client engagement skills and winning presentations.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS plus 12+ years of related federal experience, including 4+ years of experience in business development, operations management, Profit and Loss, and staff management
- Outstanding communication skills
- Consultative, service-oriented mindset and collaborative problem-solving skills
Preferred Requirements
- Advanced Business degree
- 20+ years of related experience
- 10+ years in the geographic marketplace
- Extensive experience in driving growth, developing strategy, generating sales, and building high performance teams
- Significant experience and client relationships in the practice areas associated with the federal government
- Bilingual (French and English)
