Job Description
As a result of a significant project pipeline, AECOM’s Resources + Industry business has an opportunity for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to support the successful completion of a range of major mining projects across Australia and Internationally.
Working as part of a dynamic, consulting environment, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with industry leaders and technical specialists. You will work across all project phases from studies through to detailed engineering and execution, working predominately across copper / gold resources projects.
This is a great opportunity to be a part of an established and internationally experienced centre of excellence based in Brisbane.
Utilising your relevant experience, you will also provide technical guidance to our graduates and upcoming engineers, contributing to the growth of the next generation of engineering consultants.
Qualifications
Surrounded by an excellent team, your career will continue to thrive with AECOM. For this position, we would expect a Principal Mechanical Engineer to have:
- Relevant tertiary qualification, such as a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
- Ideally 10-15+ years engineering experience in consulting or owners team project environments
- Experience in the design and specification of underground bulk materials handling systems, underground and surface mine infrastructure (mine ventilation, dewatering, etc), and minerals processing
- Strong networks and the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders
- Exposure to Australian and International Standards in Mining and Industrial operations
- Knowledge or exposure to study phases, frameworks, and procedures across the project lifecycle (initiation to execution)
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training in Bulk Solids Flow, Conveyor Design, Comminution, and Discrete Element Method (DEM) modelling would be highly regarded
- Experience in leading multidiscipline engineering teams in the delivery of engineering projects or packages
- Underground hard rock resource experience in Copper / Gold
- CPEng / RPEQ accredited
