Job Description

The Municipal Roads group in our Mississauga office is seeking an experienced Project Manager with past experience in the management of multi-disciplinary design teams for planning and design projects on Transportation projects. The appropriately qualified candidate will have demonstrated experience in successfully managing planning and detail design assignments for roads, highways and other transportation related infrastructure in the province of Ontario.

 

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages portfolio of clients with multiple projects
  • Manages all phases of projects (from beginning to close out)
  • Manage projects including project team direction, co-ordination, monitoring schedules and budgets
  • Communicate with clients, agencies, stakeholders, and the public
  • Assign, direct, and review work undertaken by technical staff to ensure that projects are completed to a high degree of accuracy and quality
  • Project management responsibilities including financial, schedule, and scope management of projects
  • Perform business development and marketing activities to current and potential clients in order to generate future business
  • Directs staff to operate and minimize exposure to risks and claims
  • Lead preparation of Proposals and Requests for Qualifications
  • Manage staff for technical project activities, assist with staff development, and provide input and recommendations relative to staff needs, performance, and remuneration

 

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering + minimum 6 years experience in managing road design projects
    • P.Eng. designation in Ontario
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and provide guidance/mentoring to junior and intermediate project staff 

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of experience in the road design engineering field
    • Knowledge of applicable design standards including those published by TAC and MTO
    • Knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standards, and relevant GTHA Standard design requirements and Tender Documents for Unit Price Contracts
    • Knowledge of Municipal Class EA process
    • Experience with AutoCad (and Civ3D) and/or MicroStation/Bentley, and other roadway design software
    • Outstanding communication and verbal skills, documentation and proposal writing skills
    • Accountability for project budgets
    • This position is municipally oriented, but experience with MTO as a project manager and lead design engineer will be considered
