The AWP Safety Summer Internship Program provides a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience that empowers students and young professionals with our Legal and Compliance teams. This program offers interns the chance to engage in impactful projects that directly contribute to our company’s operations and strategic goals.

What You’ll Experience:

  • Real-World Projects: Interns work on meaningful projects that shape AWP’s success and advance their own skills.
  • Mentorship & Community: Each intern is paired with a dedicated mentor and gains access to a network of former interns who have transitioned into full-time roles.
  • Career Exploration: Through our "Journey-to-the-Job" seminars, interns will hear from AWP Safety leaders about career paths and professional growth within the industry.
  • Team-Building & Networking Activities: Enjoy weekly luncheons, coffee chats, leadership panels, and social events, including a Guardians baseball game and National Intern Day celebration.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in volunteer activities, such as supporting the Boys and Girls Club, reflecting our values of ownership, trust, and leadership.

The 10 week program runs from mid-May to early-August at AWP Safety’s corporate headquarters in North Canton, Ohio, immersing interns in a dynamic work culture. Key activities include:

  • Skills Workshops: Including StrengthsFinder assessments, resume writing, and mock interviews to prepare for full-time roles.
  • Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Work on projects like "Gen Z in the Workplace" with interns across departments to broaden perspectives and foster collaboration.
  • Leadership Development Series: Sessions on conflict management, personal branding, and career tips enhance professional and personal growth.

    Job Description

    1. Legal Research: Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law pertaining to safety standards, liability issues, and corporate compliance.
    2. Document Drafting: Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and corporate policies.
    3. Compliance Support: Support the legal team in ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including occupational safety and health standards.
    4. Data Management: Organize and maintain legal files and databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of information.
    5. Administrative Tasks: Provide administrative support to the legal department, including scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and preparing presentations.
    6. Assist in Legal Reviews: Participate in the review of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to identify potential risks and propose solutions.
    7. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the company, including operations, HR, and finance, to address legal issues and provide guidance as needed.
    8. Special Projects: Assist in special legal projects as assigned by the legal team, such as corporate governance initiatives or regulatory compliance audits.

    Qualifications

    • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Law, Legal Studies, or a related field.
    • Strong academic record with coursework in corporate law, contracts, and regulatory compliance preferred.
    • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
    • Prior internship or work experience in a legal setting is a plus.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

    Additional Information

    This position is full time, temporary, non-benefits eligible at $20/hour.
