Job Description
What you're responsible for:
- Inspect and sort metal materials, such as aluminium, copper, steel, and alloys, according to established guidelines and specifications
- Identify and remove contaminants, non-recyclable items, and hazardous materials from the metal stream, ensuring the purity and quality of the recyclable metals
- Separate different types of metals into designated bins or areas, following proper sorting procedures and ensuring compliance with recycling standards
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sorting stations, bins, and surrounding areas, to facilitate efficient sorting operations
- Coordinate and communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues or concerns
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and waste reduction, and provide suggestions to enhance sorting operations
- Adhere to environmental regulations and company policies related to the handling, sorting, and disposal of metal materials
Qualifications
To join our team:
- Previous experience in a recycling facility or a similar environment is preferred
- Familiarity with different types of metals and their distinguishing characteristics is a plus
- Ability to quickly and accurately identify and sort various metal materials based on visual cues and provided guidelines
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in metal sorting
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaborate in a team environment
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality
- Willingness to adhere to safety protocols, wear appropriate PPE, and participate in safety training
