Job Description

Apex Clean Energy is seeking a dynamic Senior HR Generalist to join our HR Department on Apex’s People Operations team. The Senior HR Generalist will focus on various aspects of the Apex employee experience and will be a key member of the HR team, primarily responsible for managing and enhancing our benefits programs and leave of absence policies. This role requires a detail-oriented and proactive individual with a strong understanding of benefits administration and leave management, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional support to our employees.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Administer and manage employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits-related inquiries, providing accurate information and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure timely and accurate enrollment, changes, and terminations of benefits within ADP in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.
  • Manage relationships with benefit vendors, brokers, and third-party service providers.
  • Conduct benefits orientation and education sessions for new hires and current employees.
  • Coordinate open enrollment periods, including communication, enrollment processing, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with payroll to ensure accurate benefits deductions and compensation payouts.
  • Administer and manage leave programs, including FMLA, short- and long-term disability, and other state and company-sponsored leave policies.
  • Monitor leave eligibility, process required paperwork and communicate with employees on leave status.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local and company leave regulations.
  • Collaborate with managers to ensure smooth transitions and return-to-work plans.
  • Assist with compensation-related activities, including market research, benchmarking, and other activities in support of competitive and fair pay practices.
  • Support the design and implementation of employee rewards and recognition programs.
  • Stay current with regulatory changes affecting benefits, leave, and compensation practices, and ensure company compliance.
  • Support HR projects and initiatives as needed, contributing to a positive and inclusive company culture.
  • Works primarily traditional office hours in an indoor office environment. Flexible work hours allowed when work duties and business operations permit.

Qualifications

To succeed as a Senior HR Generalist at Apex Clean Energy, you’ll need to excel within the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in HR, with a focus on benefits administration, leave management, and compensation.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations related to benefits, leave, and compensation.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficient in HRIS systems, benefits administration platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Professional HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP)
    • Experience with vendor management and benefits negotiation
    • Experience using ADP Workforce Now
    • Experience in a dynamic, multi-state environment
