Job Description
Summary
The Senior Director of Finance oversees all long-term financial matters for the hospitality division, ensuring the alignment of financial and administrative objectives, policies, programs, and practices to maintain a continuously sound financial structure. This role manages the flow of cash and expenses within the hospitality division and is responsible for overseeing financial systems, internal controls, financial reporting, as well as managing all aspects of operational finance & accounting, including accounts payable, the general ledger, and financial planning and reporting. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Finance.
The budgeted salary range for this position is $170,000 - $210,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience, all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions
• Oversee all aspects of budget and forecast preparation for hospitality properties, including annual budgets, forecasts, and 10-year plans
• Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with company policies, procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for income, expense, and balance sheet accounts
• Manage cash flow in accordance with Aspen Hospitality and joint venture requirements, demonstrating an understanding of cash flow and stakeholder priorities
• Partner with the Project Controller and VP of Development on new hotel projects, including underwriting, preopening budgets, and project budgets
• Develop and execute innovative business plans aligned with the company’s and brand’s strategic direction
• Report delivery deadlines by submitting accurate and timely reports to advise business partners and leadership on financial and operational issues
• Represent the company on various boards as needed, such as homeowner’s association boards
• Enforce financial controls and compliance with Aspen Hospitality policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including monthly control checklists. Implement appropriate controls to manage risks and safeguard assets
• Manage operational standards for accounting, cash handling, accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audit, systems support, and payroll
• Act as a liaison with Aspen One accounting to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures regarding treasury, banking, tax preparation, property insurance, and annual audits
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, Master’s degree preferred
• 10 or more years of experience leading hotel finance and accounting division supporting multiple properties
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Knowledge with hotel property management software, point of sale systems, electronic time clock systems, spreadsheet software and other hotel applications
• Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and capital project accounting
• Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Proficient knowledge of all aspects of hotel accounting
• Ability to analyze and improve processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Ability to cross collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and sales, to ensure integrated project execution
• Ability to leadership by utilizing interpersonal and communication skills to influence and encourage others, advocate for sound financial decisions, and lead by example
• Ability to communicate strategic goals, business priorities, and financial concepts clearly and persuasively to subordinates and stakeholders to drive desired outcomes
• Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including owners and corporate entities, to meet their needs effectively
• Strong interpersonal skills and possession of a full understanding of professional business ethics with team and guests
• Ability to effectively analyze and use operational, financial, and marketing data to maintain and improve market share/penetration goals
• Ability to work well under deadline pressure and to quickly adapt to a constantly changing market
• Excellent oral (presentation) and written communication and organization skills
Additional Information
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Ability to stand, type and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift executing repetitive movements. No adverse or hazardous conditions. Not required, but preferred to be able to occasionally lift, push or pull 25 lbs. individually or with assistance.
