Job Description

Who you are:

Do you have a passion for eCommerce? Do you always have the best customer experience in mind? Avery Dennison’s marketing team is growing to take on new challenges, and with it we need a strong eCommerce expert who can help craft the vision and roadmap for future success. We’re looking for a hands-on team player (really, you’ll be working across a lot of groups) with strong project management skills to apply their eCommerce experience and customer-first mindset as an integral member of the Marketing department. You will develop, execute, and manage the eCommerce action plan to drive B2B engagement, sales, and profit. You’re comfortable navigating uncharted territory and thrive when empowered to determine the best solution.

You will:

  • Provide the vision for the future of eCommerce across sites and platforms. How do we create the right customer experience instead of disparate microsites? What’s the customer journey? How are we creating an experience that engages a prospect or customer with the right information, experiences, and opportunities at the right time?
  • Serve as the point of contact, and liaison, across groups such as: marketing and creative, IT, sales, product development/management, order fulfillment, customer service and finance. Understand and outline how initiatives across groups impact one another both within our business unit and beyond.
  • Take the lead to ensure the technical roadmap is married with the business needs. Even more important: establish a strategy focused on maximizing customer benefits and business outcomes and guaranteeing the technical roadmap is aligned with the strategy. Make certain a roadmap is not designed around what we can do, ease of development, or technical limitations/desires, but instead designed around what we should do.
  • Effectively lead change, working with team members to ensure involvement, participation, and encouragement of others’ ideas and contributions for effective teamwork and successful project execution.
  • Understand the goals of the business across our websites and eCommerce channels. How do our different websites factor into the equation? What else is important for our customers and would entice them to use eCommerce or purchase our products? Think beyond eCommerce to understand the optimal customer experience and partner with the right individuals and teams throughout the organization to move that forward.
  • Gather market and competitive insights to help introduce, implement, and refine our approach
  • Establish and measure KPI’s. Leverage analytics to drive data-driven decision making.
  • Outline target audiences, and personas, and understand how they engage with us currently. Create a plan to change or optimize that interaction.
  • Determine how we can best utilize existing content or recommend what is needed in order to create awareness, encourage engagement, and drive conversion/action with the right audience. Partner with brand marketing and demand generation to make it happen.
  • Act as a cross-functional business partner to support strategies and initiatives designed to enhance our overall web presence, define our market position, and leverage our eCommerce solutions.
  • Act as a continuous improvement champion asking yourself, and others, how we can continue to do better. Where can we optimize? What can we streamline? What additional insights do we need?
  • Partner with the right teams to establish maintenance/management processes and product/merchandising calendars for eCommerce.
  • Apply an agile approach across your initiatives. Aim for perfection, but understand when it is the enemy of progress and proceed accordingly.
  • Identify issues and problem-solve to have tasks prioritized and completed to deadline

Qualifications

Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor's Degree / Master's preferred
  • 9+ years of experience
  • Success leading complex cross-functional teams to implement and deliver projects on-time and within budget
  • Effective communication (and listening) skills
  • Sensitivity and persuasiveness skills to help the stakeholders and partners understand what they want vs what is ideal/needed
  • Background in eCommerce and marketing strategy to drive an improved user experience
  • Experience with CMS systems
  • Understanding of web analytics and fluency using them to drive story-telling and decision-making
  • Ability to set goals and systematically prioritize growth initiatives
  • Self starter with ability to work independently

  • Comfort working in an agile environment
