Job Description

The Intern, Mechanical Project Engineering will provide support to the Mechanical Engineering team, assisting in the design, drafting, and development of material handling equipment used in airport baggage handling systems. This role will offer hands-on experience in engineering tasks, working closely with engineers, project management, sales, and procurement teams. The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, eager to learn, and looking to gain practical experience in the material handling material Industry.

Internship Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation of 3D models and production equipment drawings using AutoCAD and other design software.
  • Survey site conditions to support the accuracy of 3D models.
  • Support the sales team by providing design input for equipment proposals.
  • Help evaluate manufacturing feasibility and assist in cost estimation for material handling systems.
  • Aid in designing layouts and components for automated systems, optimizing for cost, functionality, and manufacturability.
  • Document engineering designs in the company’s corporate database.
  • Assist in improving existing engineering processes and developing new ones.
  • Work with senior engineers to ensure designs are prepared for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Participate in conference calls and site meetings, as needed.
  • Full Time Internship for 12 weeks. 
  • Hourly rate of $20 p/h.

Qualifications

Requirements/Skills/Abilities:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong interest in design and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar 3D modeling software. Experience with NavisWorks is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail, and ability to quickly absorb new concepts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional, positive attitude and a strong team player.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required.
