CERN’s mission is the advancement of knowledge, and the Archives & Library are the key hub for managing access to the knowledge needed to fulfil the mission of the Laboratory and to preserve it for future generations. The physical and fast-growing online archives & library both contribute to this endeavor.
The CERN Scientific Information Service operates, among other sections, the CERN Archives & Library. The first takes care of preserving and making accessible the Organization’s memory. The second ensures access to the scientific documents researchers need to carry out their activities by managing a library and a bookshop and their associated services. The mission of the CERN Scientific Information Service is to efficiently manage, preserve and disseminate scientific information to make it openly accessible and reusable to CERN and the worldwide high-energy physics community.

Functions
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Library services: Collaboratively perform library operations, including acquiring books, managing subscriptions, processing interlibrary loans, handling user inquiries, and participating in desk shifts to ensure excellent service delivery; curate and ingest metadata into catalogues and repositories;
- Bookshop management: Collaboratively perform bookshop tasks, including acquisitions and customer support;
- Archival services: Physically and intellectually process, catalogue, and digitize collections, and assist researchers and Departmental Records Officers with archival resources;
- Training: Mentor apprentices and interns in library and archival practices;
- Outreach: Create content and support communication and outreach activities for the Archives & Library;
- Support other activities of the service according to demands and projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of information science or a related field.
Experience:
- Familiarity with information management systems;
- Proven track record of managing scientific archives or libraries in international, academic, or research organizations.

Employment Conditions
