Job Description
The Facility Support Director is responsible for developing and managing effective maintenance, engineering, housekeeping, security, and parking services in the buildings and grounds of the CFMH campus. The Facility Support Director also supports Carilion’s hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Plans and directs hospital and Medical Office Building (MOB) maintenance and engineering functions, including design, construction, alteration, operation, maintenance, and preventive maintenance programs, including cabling of all computers, and working with Bio-Med Department.

Plans and directs hospital and MOB housekeeping functions, including cleaning services in patient care areas, clinical working areas, nonclinical working areas, meeting rooms, and visitor areas.

Plans and directs hospital and MOB security systems, including security personnel and policies, electronic security and monitoring systems, parking, employee identification and access systems, and traffic control. Works with hospital Safety Officer. Is the CFMH Hazardous Materials Manager.

Negotiates customer service agreements with internal and external customers. Develops a communication plan that supports open communication with management team, employees, and patients/customers. Acts as liaison to various officials and agencies.

Projects and prepares budgets for areas of responsibility. Monitors use of resources to ensure cost-effectiveness of services provided.

Defines performance measures, goals, and objectives for areas of responsibility; identifies and effectively implements performance improvement projects and monitors quality of services provided.

Ensures that services provided meet applicable accrediting agency standards, regulatory guidelines and laws.

Facilitates the professional growth and leadership development of managers and employees within areas of responsibility. Identifies and promotes opportunities for staff development.

Promotes Carilion Clinic's Culture of Excellence, and quality service through teamwork, respectful communication, maintenance of a professional environment, partnership with those we serve, and anticipation of patient/customer needs.
Job Scope:
Twenty four hour accountability for human resources management, operational management, and financial management. May take Administrative Call. Communicates regularly with management and administrative personnel within Carilion organization and with outside vendors. Performs work duties primarily in a normal office environment; some work is required outdoors, in patient care areas or in mechanical areas. Manages multiple priorities in a rapidly changing, stressful environment. May require travel between Carilion affiliates.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred. (Or a combination of education and experience acceptable to the Hospital Director.)
Experience:
Minimum 5 - 7 years experience in hospital or health services setting, demonstrating increased and/or diversified responsibility for related services.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration:
Knowledge of and ability in the areas of blueprint reading, drafting, estimating, building construction standards, and national, state local codes and regulations and crafts associated with construction.
Other Minimum Qualifications:
Must satisfactorily complete orientation processes for Carilion Clinic and for Director, Facility Support Services position. Must display positive leadership skills, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. Must work well with all members of the hospital team, including employees, managers, administrators, and physicians. Must possess analytic business skills, integrity as a team player, be courteous, have ability to resolve complaints/problems, and display customer-focused philosophy of service. Must demonstrate skills in operational and human resources management
