Job Description
Responsibilities
- Applying engineering fundamentals to design process;
- Performing design/drafting tasks with Revit® MEP under the oversight of our Building Information Management (BIM) Technology Manager;
- Preparing system layout and detailed drawings and schematics; and
- Collaborating with other engineering personnel, architects and owners in the development of engineering solutions and the preparation of the design documents.
Principal Duties
- Analyzing as-is project specifications and system performance requirements to determine the designs/engineering which can be produced by existing facilities and methods;
- Determining feasibility of designing/engineering new systems or modifying existing facilities for Project Plan, considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, contract fees and other technical and economic factors;
- Conferring with internal and external Project personnel to clarify or resolve problems and developing design/engineering;
- Preparing or directing the preparation of system layout and detailed BIM/ Revit® MEP drawings and schematics;
- Analyzing test data and reports to determine if engineering meets functional and performance specifications;
- Collaborating with other Project Team members (both mechanical and electrical, as applicable) in the development of engineering solutions and the preparation of design documents as detailed in the Project Plan.
- Applying established engineering fundamentals to the design process.
- Preparing for and checking work of the Revit® MEP Technician.
- Attending Project Kick-Off meetings and other in house project team meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering is required;
- 3-5 years’ experience in mechanical systems engineering design for buildings;
- Must have experience and ability to use Revit® MEP;
- Previous experience on health care projects preferred;
- EIT certification is preferred.
