Job Description
Children’s Therapy Center is seeking a full-time Insurance Collections Specialist to join our Billing Team! Based out of our Kent campus, our Insurance Collections Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing all activities related to the collection of claims from insurance companies and individuals following the initial submission)
Primary Responsibilities
- Identifies outstanding insurance balances over 60 days old from aging/insurance reports and work accordingly.
- Communicates with insurance companies and other responsible parties to facilitate collection of outstanding debt. Communication includes both verbal and written notices.
- Records communication accurately in RT.
- Communicate pertinent insurance updates and changes to the Billing Office Manager
- Determine denials from specific insurance carrier(s). Take the corrective actions to resolve the denials and obtain insurance reimbursement.
- Understanding of insurance billing guidelines and denial codes
- Appropriately utilizes direct teammates when additional guidance is needed to ensure insurance reimbursement.
- Meets or exceeds production level standards as set by the Billing Office Manager
- Effectively interacts in a friendly, courteous, concise and professional manner in both written and verbal communications.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Contributes to a positive, enjoyable, cooperative and productive work environment.
- Understands and follows corporate Safety and Compliance Programs. Understands and complies with company/department policies and procedures.
- Participates in clinic/company meetings. Attends company-sponsored functions and community events as able.
· Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of previous related experience required (This needs to be hands on with insurance collections. Private and state insurances)
- Proficient with Medical Practice Management Software (Raintree preferred), Excel and other Microsoft applications
- Proficient knowledge and usage of One Health Port, Availity, and ProviderOne.
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and multitask in a fast paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized and detail oriented with strong analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of HIPAA rules.
- Understanding of Insurance terms when communicating with insurance companies.
- Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Must be a self-motivator
- Ability to accept and adapt to change as related to department processes
- Reliable transportation required
