Job Description

Through proper project management, the Project Manager serves as the vital link between CWL’s high-profile construction clientele and the Company to ensure that client expectations regarding quality and service are consistently met and exceeded for entire lifespan of projects, this includes but is not limited to installation, sales and estimating, project costing, billing, procurement and employee management.

Working within designated deadlines and budget, manages jobs, personnel and supplies to maximize company financial health.

  • Plan, schedule, and implement the tasks of multiple field crews for landscape construction projects. These activities must result in compliance with contract specifications, budgets, and client expectations.
  • Conduct pre-construction meetings with property owner, production manager, field staff and subcontractors.
  • Understand the client and design expectations, and inform Field Supervisors about the project requirements as well as oversee field operations in conjunction with Field Supervisor.
  • Effectively communicate progress on landscape projects to company management, sales, design, and field staff.
  • Keep staff apprised of invoicing schedule for landscape projects and manage billing to reflect actual job progress and monitor collections.
  • Ensure that all extras are documented, approved by project owner, and billed accordingly.
  • Analyze designs and complete take-offs for estimating purposes. Contact subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotes for inclusion in estimates.
  • Coordinate and track subcontractor work. Effectively and expeditiously process change orders.
  • Create and maintain job files and up to date bid board.
  • Coordinate scheduling of materials and labor. • Comply with all company policies/procedures and safety requirements.

Develop and capture new business.

  • Build a customer base with new and existing clients, identifying prospective customers and serving as the initial contact to determine viability and desirability of a targeted account.
  • Present proposals to customers and negotiate customer contract in conjunction with operations staff.
  • Actively educate and sell other company services to customers and build relationships that will foster referrals.
  • Participate in property walk-through, noting needs and communicating relevant services and prices. Prepare estimates, proposals, and presentations.
  • Assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies aimed at attracting projects that the Company likes to do. Assist in writing and editing communication pieces. Adheres to Christy Webber Landscapes customer service standards to ensure excellent customer service and maximize overall client satisfaction.

  • Foster strong relationships with new and existing clients, responding to client concerns timely. • Maintain or improve relationships with contractors, landscape architects and other prominent figures.
  • Serve as the customer liaison and advocate between managers and field team members.
  • Conduct final walkthrough with client to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Follow up with clients after job is completed. Monitor call backs and warranty work.
  • Present a professional attitude and appearance at all times.





Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or WORK EXPERIENCE:

A degree in horticulture, landscape construction or related from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a commercial landscape maintenance firm with a minimum of one year leading multiple crews and properties. A passion for landscape contracting. Prior Snow operations experience desirable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to read architectural drawings and layout products based on the design; Ability to manage landscape construction team to meet or exceed company production rates; Ability to manage invoicing operations and proficiency with landscape operations paperwork; Ability to work effectively in a team environment; Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate company resources; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Horticultural, masonry and drainage knowledge; Must possess valid IL Class C Drivers License and be insurable by company insurance carriers.

Physical Requirements: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time; may be required to operate assigned vehicle; may be required to push, pull, bend, lift light to moderate objects (40 lbs.), carry, reach, and stoop; finger dexterity is essential. Maintain mental capacity that permits making sound judgments regarding work and have regular attendance.
