Job Description

The Communications and Membership Manager will assist the Vice President of Communications and Membership with the creation, execution, and oversight and implementation of communications and membership engagement strategies and plans that will effectively build awareness of and involvement in organization products, services and events.

The Communications and Membership Manager responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the development and oversight of the annual strategic communications and membership plans for the association; executing the implementation plan by coordinating with internal divisions/departments and external partners for effective execution
  • Collaborating with CSWE staff to determine communication/membership engagement needs and develop campaigns and collateral as needed
  • Managing CSWE website; reviewing content changes and recommend design/content/architecture revisions to improve user experience and search engine optimization
  • In coordination with programs and event staff, writing, editing, and approving content to promote the organization and its programs to members and key audiences as well as to drive engagement. Such content includes but is not limited to e-mails, press releases, articles, marketing copy, newsletters, fact sheets, infographics, social media, online community, and more
  • Creating and managing CSWE’s digital media strategy to build the council’s brand and social media presence, and engage target audiences with compelling content, including video
  • Overseeing the design of graphic elements, posters, brochures, fact sheets, logos, or other promotional products
  • Analyzing trends and best practices, then make recommendations to Communications and Membership Division accordingly
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Communications and Membership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or liberal arts, and at least 5 years working in communications with proven ability to execute effective communications initiatives and drive member engagement; experience in association or nonprofit communications preferred
  • Familiarity with APA editorial style
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and verbal and written communications required
  • Strong relationship-building skills for forging conversations and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent writing skills required
  • Demonstrated experience in managing project timelines and seeing them through to completion
  • Knowledge/experience in marketing/PR strategies and concepts preferred
  • Proven ability to work independently

Additional Information

This position is an onsite position with an option for hybrid after the probationary period.

  • The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience.

ADA SPECIFICATIONS

  • This position is primarily sedentary and is performed in an office setting.  Position requires ability to communicate effectively and the ability to use computers, telephones and other office equipment. Periodic out-of-town travel is also required.  May be required to use computer screen for extensive periods of time.
