Job Description
As the Technical Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the efficiency, reliability, and security of an organisation's technical systems and infrastructure. This role ensures that operational processes are optimised, technical issues are promptly resolved, and systems are continuously monitored to support business objectives.
Qualifications
Key responsibilities
Design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions using Infrastructure as Code principles
Maintain and optimize our AWS cloud environment, ensuring cost efficiency and performance
Develop and maintain Terraform configurations for infrastructure provisioning
Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters and containerized applications
Configure and maintain service mesh architecture using Istio
Implement and manage secrets using HashiCorp Vault
Monitor system health and performance using tools like Sentry and other observability platforms
Collaborate with development teams to architect solutions that meet application requirements
Document infrastructure changes, processes, and standard operating procedures
Essential requirements
Proven track record of 3+ years in infrastructure engineering or similar technical operations role
Demonstrated experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, etc.)
Strong background in Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform
Experience with secrets management using HashiCorp Vault
Proficiency in scripting with Python, Go, and Bash
Extensive experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
Experience with service mesh implementation, particularly Istio
Proven experience with GitHub Actions and modern CI/CD practices
Experience with installing and managing Kubernetes applications using Helm
Strong command of version control systems (Git) and CI/CD practices
Demonstrated ability with monitoring tools including Sentry and observability platforms
In-depth understanding of networking concepts and security best practices
Desirable requirements
AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer)
Experience with additional service mesh technologies
Experience with Octopus Deploy or alternative hosted CD tooling
Knowledge of configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, or Puppet)
Experience with log management and analysis tools
Background in implementing security controls and compliance requirements
Experience with performance tuning and optimization of cloud resources
Technical Skills
Cloud Platforms: AWS (primary), experience with GCP or Azure a plus
Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation
Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes
Service Mesh: Istio
Secrets Management: HashiCorp Vault

TypeScript, PHP or Go programming language experience a plus
