Job Description

The IT Controller will support the Director IT Services, and all Zone Business/IT leaders with accounting practices as it relates to IT costs: budgeting, (re)billing, controlling and reporting.

As part of the Regional IT Governance Team, the main responsibility of the IT Controller will be to aggregate (from Group, Region, Zone/ELEs) and rebill IT costs (to the respective consuming entity). The IT Controller will be responsible for managing (budgeting, controlling) the IT TCO for each of the Regional Business Lines, and assisting in IT projects around cost analyses (build/buy) as needed.

You will interact with Group Finance / IT Controlling and cooperatively develop, document, enforce, audit IT cost controlling, budgeting and reporting processes and templates

Ideally you are a quick learner able to adapt to amorphous and dynamic environment and you are already knowledgeable of laboratory (or similar regulated/controlled environment) operations and processes.

 

SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENTS:

  • Support the Director IT Services, and all Zone Business/IT leaders with accounting practices as it relates to IT costs: budgeting, (re)billing (from Lead Contractor), controlling and reporting
  • Drive the IT budgeting lifecycle with all involved stakeholders (Zone Business/IT leaders and IT Service Providers), spanning personnel cost, capex/opex, and its allocation to the consuming ELEs. 
  • Be responsible for the coordination of the IT budget process as well as subsequent forecasting exercises and be accountable for quality and validity of the data.
  • Manage (budgeting, controlling) the IT TCO for each of the Regional Business Lines, and to assist in IT project cost analyses (build / buy) as needed
  • Consolidate for the region
  • Partner with IT Service Owners as well as IT Service Consumers to optimize IT resources/spend.
  • Analyse variances between actuals and budgets, flag risks, challenge the budget owners and monitor corrective actions.
  • Report to management (by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data).
  • Work with the regional Licensing/Purchasing manager and oversee payments of all accounts (regional IT purchases).
  • Develop a well-structured, transparent IT Cost Billing Model (aggregate IT costs from Group, Region, Zone/ELEs and rebill subscribed IT Services to the respective consuming entity)
  • Define SMART metrics and facilitate benchmarking of IT spend across IT Zones.
  • Implement best practices
  • Interact with Group Finance / IT Controlling and cooperatively develop / document / audit IT cost controlling, budgeting and reporting processes and templates
  • Support the implementation of Group’s Finance policies & procedures, as well as of the Finance IT systems supporting the Group’s controlling activities
  • Additional controller duties as needed

Qualifications

Education:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration with an emphasis in accounting, or a related field.

Experience:

 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting/controlling/reporting (as a controller or financial analyst).
  • Experience working at enterprise (headquarter) level, working with multiple legal entities.
  • Experience working for the IT department or for an IT company is a plus.
  • Experience in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, etc.).
  • Proven track record of handling confidential and sensitive information.

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

The ideal candidate combines a strong expertise in accounting, audit, budgeting and financial and genuine interest for IT.

We are looking for a self-motivated candidate, with keen attention to detail and excellent analytical and judgment skills.

Ideally you have experience in auditing, compliance and financial reporting.

  • Sound knowledge in accounting fundamentals (developing budgets and tracking expenses) and solid financial skills (including financial reporting).
  • A flair for numbers and exceptional numerical skills (preferred).
  • Excellent writing and communication skills (fluent spoken and written English).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at different levels in the organization (Group Finance, Business and IT leadership, etc.)
  • Proven track record of handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to develop budgets and financial reporting.
  • Ability to track expenses.
  • Ability to prioritise, drive results and provide clear and documented updates to management.
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision, with an aptitude for independent judgment.
  • Experience in accounting software and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, …)
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements (GDPR, etc.) is a plus.
