Job Description
OVERALL OBJECTIVES:
You will join a challenging and unique large-scale Transformation Program with high impact and visibility.
In the role, you will architect and design secure, robust, scalable IT Infrastructure platforms to support the delivery of resilient, best-in-class, cost-efficient IT Infra Services, provided by the Zone and Regional IT Infrastructure teams. This includes providing strategic coordination as well as tactical governance.
Drive product evaluation and selection of new IT Infrastructure products to meet strategic business initiatives; Engage with vendors and build development plans to drive technology certification and innovation.
In order to achieve this in collaboration with the wider organisation, the IT Infrastructure Architect will:
- Develop enterprise architecture strategy and cross-domain architecture to integrate with other company strategies
- Use knowledge and expertise to credibly and persuasively articulate the features and benefits of these products and their value to peers
- Provide common platforms that support the application architecture with the appropriate Infrastructure Building Blocks
- Support technical delivery to enable the implementation of project(s) on a common platform.
- Enforce good governance regarding architecture risks
- Promote regional collaboration about common platforms and solution to ensure a collective effort towards a target
- Ensure the team remain customer facing, technologically relevant and mentor engineers to establish a strong core of technology awareness
SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENTS – KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
IT Infra Architecture Design & Execution
- Provide guidance on technical matters within Infrastructure technology
- Maintaining a concise catalogue of Infrastructure Building Blocks (IBBs) to provide a common platform for the application architecture
- Specifies and designs the new enterprise level solutions. Selects appropriate design standards, methods and tools and ensures that they are applied effectively
- Consultation on architecture deliverables, which include but not limited to the reference architecture, IT implementation standards and principles, Infrastructure Strategy / Target / Roadmap, the creation of whitepapers / option papers to recommend changes where necessary
- Engage with the Regional Business Line/Zone Business Leaders and Zone IT Infra/Solutions managers to understand business needs and (co)define the IT Strategy for each RBL/Zone; build a network of key business leaders and foster a productive relationship with them
- Adopt renewable technology assets to improve efficiency
- Work closely with the Regional IT Infrastructure team and the Zone IT Infra Managers to execute the Transformation program to regionalise legacy Group IT Infra and re-engineer IT Infra Services for ELEs in your region
- Work with Group C&S Team and actively contribute to the definition of Group Competence & Standards
- Collaborate with Zone/Regional IT Infra teams to ensure that agreed IT Infrastructure standards, technologies, products, etc. are understood, implemented and adhered to
- Prepare vendor engagement documents
- Evaluates and undertakes impact analysis on major design options. Ensures that the system architecture balances functional, service quality and systems management requirements. Reviews others’ system designs to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources and integration of multiple systems and technology
- Provide leadership support and expert guidance to technical management teams
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science or similar;
- 5+ years of experience as an IT infrastructure technical lead/architect, with in hybrid solutions environment;
- Strong knowledge of core Microsoft products/services and O365 services;
- Knowledge of principles and practices involved in development and maintenance of software solutions and architectures and in service delivery;
- Familiarity with Agile, SCRUM, SDLC, DevOps, rapid and iterative technical design/implementation based projects;
- Automation, scripting languages, e.g. Batch scripting, Terraform, Python, Jenkins, Chef, CI/CD, etc.;
- Experience in the infrastructure and platform space, covering a wide range of technologies, such as but not limited to:
- Windows and Linux Server Operating Systems
- Cloud computing platforms, e.g Docker, Kubernetes, Saas Applications
- Database Platforms and related management tools
- Data Storage solutions
- System management and monitoring tools
- Backup and recovery tools / technologies, business continuity & disaster recovery
- VMware and virtualisation technologies
- Understanding of, but not limited to: application life-cycle management, network SDN, SD-WAN and firewalls, enterprise Architecture concepts, industry standards and best practices
- Deep understanding of on premise virtual and public cloud infrastructures (Azure/AWS)
- Proven experience and understanding of architecture principles across IT Infrastructure platforms, security, data, integration and applications layers
- Container technologies; Microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, and others
- Extensive knowledge of Compute (Windows Server, …), Storage (NetApp, …), Network (Cisco, CheckPoint…) technologies; VMware; SAN/NAS storage systems, Backup technologies, Active Directory services, Office 365
- Working in strong governance driven industries and experience of ISO 27001
