Job Description

The position prepares and analyzes environmental samples using standard analytical techniques according to approved scientific and EPA methodology in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures (SOPs).This position can be physical job that may require standing for long periods, working with organic solvents, laboratory glassware and specialized equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs routine lab tasks that provide experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs. These include:
    • Preparation of samples using standard techniques
    • Performing chemical analysis using standard techniques
    • Evaluation and quantification of data
    • Recording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor
    • Performing routine instrument maintenance
  • Competency on complex instrumentation instrument specific software (training is provided)
  • Responsible for timely completion of assigned/scheduled QC samples (MDL, LOD/LOQ, PT)
  • As required, documents NCMs for projects with quality issues
  • Works under close supervision using routine and standard methods
  • Responsible for general housekeeping in work area
  • Weighing out and recording sample weights
  • Assisting the prep analysts with sample extractions
  • Preparing extraction supplies
  • Upkeep and cleaning of Promochroms
  • Calibrating pipettes
  • Maintaining a clean and organized laboratory

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, or ability required.

Education/Experience (BMQ):

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • High school Chemistry coursework, basic laboratory experience
  • Previous experience working in a lab

Specific Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Perform prep/analysis of samples of various matrices for various analytical methods
  • Analyze/prep samples and QC for routine testing
  • Perform basic maintenance on equipment used for routine work
  • Previous experience working in a lab
  • Previous production-oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines
  • Perform calculations with calculator / mathematical formulas
  • Complete work within time and quality constraints
  • Demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate good problem solving skills
  • Work independently following written or verbal instructions
  • Reading, writing and speaking skills
  • Applies GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Work overtime as workload requires

Follow and learn appropriate protocols in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Organic preparation
  • Wet Chemistry
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs at times.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US indefinitely without sponsorship
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen

 

Additional Information

Compensation:$17-19/hr (DOE)

Eurofins Environment Testing (USA) provides a compensation range for informational purposes, the actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and skill set, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.

Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.
