Job Description
The scope of this job is to manage multiple groups within Eurofins Food Integrity & Innovation that conduct multi-disciplined assays to generate results, solve problems and interpret data of a scientific nature. Responsibility of the role is to meet operational objectives and drive growth within the cost center(s) reporting directly to the role. Additional responsibility is to drive growth across Eurofins Food Integrity & Innovation and align resources to strategic needs. All activities required of position are conducted in compliance and support of ISO/IEC 17025:2005.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates and promotes the company vision
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Applies GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate.
- Support compliance of ISO/IEC 17025:2005
- May be required to assume responsibilities of Site Operations in the absence of the Site Operations Head
- Assists with performance evaluations, staffing decisions and other supervisory activities for the assigned functional groups
- Reviews and approves work performed in Eurofins Food Integrity & Innovation for scientific validity and compliance with Eurofins SOPs
- Complete understanding of Eurofins SOPs as they apply to food testing services
- Provides technical guidance to the employees of Eurofins Food Integrity & Innovation
- Provides management direction to designated groups with frequent site-wide leadership
- Assists in the planning and managing of business development and marketing activities for section to form client/company partnerships. Foresees and promotes interdisciplinary applications of research expertise
- Trains and mentors staff, supervisors, and other managers within Eurofins Food Integrity & Innovation
- Works with the Eurofins Food Integrity & Innovation commercial and Technical Development teams to expand Eurofins Food Integrity & Innovation to new clients and to develop new services
- Maintains client contacts and establishes new contacts for specific service or market segments.
- Works with clients to design method development projects, method validations and testing programs that will meet client requirements
- Prepares protocols, reports, and other documents associated with Eurofins Food Integrity & Innovation
- Interprets and implements policies affecting staff, fiscal and technical management for the department
- Discusses study problems or scope changes with appropriate personnel and suggests solutions and actions to solve problems. Manages the impact on time and cost
- Assesses feasibility/monitors/evaluates/reviews the scientific and financial performance of studies and projects
- Contributes to long-range planning and technical policies of the department
- Works with Human Resources to implement appropriate affirmative action, salary administration and communication programs within the department
- Conducts and hosts client visits to Eurofins Food Integrity & Innovation
- May have the additional responsibility of managing quality systems
- Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Client related (relevant for positions that directly interact with or directly support external clients).
Qualifications
Education/Experience (BMQ):
- BS degree in a related field
- 10+ years of experience. Experience may be substituted for education.
- 5+ years of management experience or supervising teams
Basic Minimum Qualifications (BMQ):
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill or ability required.
- Experience in the techniques of food, supplement, and ingredient analysis and/or microbiology.
- Involvement with industry standards, such as AOAC, USP, ISO 17025, etc.
- Experience with GLPs and cGMPs (for Dietary Supplements or Medicated Feeds)
- Extensive knowledge of related regulations in a contract laboratory environment
- Skilled in performing presentations, leading meetings, time management, and planning, budgeting and negotiation.
- Proven experience with customers and driving growth for a business
- Demonstrated ability for logical thinking, vision, and creativity necessary to function effectively with little structure or supervision.
- Ability to learn new tasks
- Ability to think critically and solve problems quickly and efficiently
Other Factors:
- Office based work (90%)
- Periodic visits to lab areas, potential exposure to chemicals (5%)
- <5% travel to other Eurofins Food Integrity & Innovation sites
- Overtime, including evening and weekend work, is expected if needed to complete internal or external customer requirements
- Domestic and international travel may be required for extended periods, including weekends
- Expected to understand the process for handling hazardous wastes and receive on-the-job training for handling specific waste types in their job area
- Mandatory immunizations and screening as required
- Will be exposed to potential food allergens.
