Job Description

Credit Union in Dallas is seeking a dynamic Accounting Operations Manager.  The key components of this position are to oversee the daily Accounting operations, and improve daily processes and efficiencies for the department.  Ensure accounting activities are carried out in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.   Individual must be flexible and able to perform multiple tasks with minimal supervision.  Position will perform other duties as assigned by the Controller or CFO.

Major Duties and Essential Functions

  • Supervise and train Staff / Senior Staff Accountants in their daily duties, and serve as backup for all accounting operations.  Oversee, assign, direct, coordinate and review all work performed by staff.
  • Document procedures, train, develop, and coach employees as needed.
  • Serves as a liaison between accounting and the credit union operations.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Quarterly 5300 Call Report as needed.
  • Assist in preparation of schedules for external auditors and examiners as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual information (MISC 1099 & 1099C) and escheat reporting as needed.
  • Assist with preparing and posting GL entries as needed. 
  • Assist with performing daily operational reconciliations and of assigned general ledger account reconciliations and reviews of these reconciliations as needed.
  • Develop each employee to their highest potential by identifying their areas for improvement and appropriately coaching and training staff.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned by the Controller or CFO.

Positions directly supervises:  Senior and Staff Accountants

Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in finance/accounting from four-year college or university.   CPA or potential CPA candidate is preferred.         

Experience:  Minimum of two years related experience in a credit union or other financial institution.
