Job Description

The HR Intern will play a key role in supporting various human resources functions, with a focus on office operations, employee engagement, and various projects within talent acquisition. This role involves working leading the intern program, coordinating onboarding for new associates, and working on special projects throughout the HR team.

The HR Intern will also assist in maintaining office facilities, ensuring a productive work environment. Additionally, they will be an active member of the Therma-Tru office Engagement Committee (WISH), helping drive initiatives that promote a positive workplace culture, and managing internal communications to keep associates informed and engaged.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Talent Acquisition Support

  • Assist the Talent Acquisition team with recruitment-related projects, including sourcing candidates, coordinating interviews, and updating applicant tracking systems as needed throughout internship.
  • Assist HR Manager and Talent Acquisition Specialist with the hiring function – including candidate management in ATS, resume screening, phone interviews, scheduling in-person interviews, onboarding new employees.

Onboarding

  • Prepare onboarding materials, conduct office tours, create badges for new employees, and create welcome kits for associates starting in the Therma Tru office.
  • Ensure a smooth and welcoming onboarding experience for new associates by being the front of the office first point of contact; heavily partnering with the Office Coordinator.
  • Assist with I-9 verifications as needed, in partnership with the People Services team.

Office Operations

  • Assist in maintaining office facilities, ensuring they are functional and well-organized.
  • Coordinate office supply orders and support any office-related needs.

Employee Engagement

  • Actively participate in the Therma-Tru Engagement Committee to promote employee engagement and wellness initiatives.
  • Grow positive associate relations by assisting in the planning and execution of associate events.
  • Help plan and execute company events, town halls, and employee recognition programs.

Intern Program

  • Assist in managing various aspects of the Intern Program – job fairs, orientation, events, trainings, etc.
  • Provide support for the internship program, including leading recruitment efforts and coordinating intern events.
    • Managing report out sessions onsite in the TT office.
    • Maintaining intern meet ups to drive success.
    • Keep ongoing communication between interns in office.

Internal Communications

  • Draft and distribute internal communications, keeping associates informed about company updates, events, and important announcements.
  • Support efforts to foster a positive and inclusive work environment through clear and engaging communications.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Maintain electronic & paper personnel files.
  • Complete special projects as assigned – including benefits open enrollment, performance management, compensation, audits, etc. These vary by semester.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business, psychology, or related field.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems (UKG, Workday is a plus).
  • Pro-active, can act in the absence of specific guidance.
  • Prior internship or work experience in an HR department is a plus.
  • Demonstrates strong organization skills and attention-to-detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • High level of professionalism
