Job Description

We are looking for a Scrum Master to join our Coalition and Joint Interoperability team working on the Land Command Support System (LCSS). The LCSS provides the Canadian Armed Forces with highly integrated command and control communications system. As part of this team you will be working on a highly integrated tactical system composed of communication, networking and information management sub-systems. 

As the Scrum Master, you will facilitate Agile ceremonies including Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Retrospectives, and PI Planning for the team. You will communicate with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk, drive improvement and help configure tools and process. You will support and coach teams to foster collaboration, self-organization, and continuous improvement. Additional areas of responsibility may include test planning, procedures, and execution.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a servant leader, helping to remove barriers, issues, and impediments that prevents team success
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner to maintain a prioritized product backlog; identifying team capacity, and working with the customer to prioritize the backlog on a regular basis
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals and clear communication of program success
  • Identify and resolve conflicts, facilitate team communication, and improve overall team dynamics
  • Identify risks and mitigation plans
  • Track team progress, Sprint metrics, and provide reports to management to help optimize performance and efficiency
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices, working agreements, and promoting Agile methodologies
  • Attend status meetings and sync meetings with the customer, the RTEs, the Manager
  • Schedule and coordinate team scrum meetings and planning meetings
  • Assist with management and optimization of the team’s use of tools, such as the ELM, ETM and processes, such as Agile, SAFe, and Kanban
  • Summarize Team PI Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency
  • Assist the PO and team with documentation and maintenance of processes and other team information on Confluence, Sharepoint, Word, Excel, Visio, or other documentation tools as required
  • Assist with feature and story estimation and planning, where necessary
  • Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or an applicable discipline. 
  • Five or more years experience working on systems or software integration projects.
  • Two or more years of Scrum Master experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance up to NATO level
  • Obtain and maintain a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
