About the role:
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead, manage, and inspire your team to develop software and tools for efficient delivery. Through hands-on leadership, you’ll help the team fulfill technical, operational, and business requirements. You will drive engineering best practices, implementation, development process, delivery and operation of the team’s products.
In this role, you will leverage your strong technical background to guide architectural decisions, challenge solutions constructively, and ensure high-quality outcomes without necessarily being hands-on in coding. You will also champion a culture of continuous improvement, agile practices, and collaborative teamwork.
Responsibilities:
- Drive best practices in software development, CI/CD, DevOps, and system architecture.
- Ensure timely and efficient software delivery while maintaining technical excellence.
- Identify and mitigate risks early in the development lifecycle.
- Lead a high-performing, engaged, and motivated engineering team.
- Provide mentorship, career development, and performance management for direct reports.
- Establish a strong engineering culture that promotes learning, innovation, and inclusion.
- Implement Agile methodologies for effective execution and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and optimize team efficiency using key performance metrics (e.g., velocity, lead time).
- Drive operational excellence by ensuring system reliability, monitoring, and incident management.
- Partner with product managers to define roadmaps, prioritize work, and align with business goals.
- Communicate risks, dependencies, and progress to stakeholders across the organization.
- Advocate for user-centric development by balancing technical feasibility with customer needs.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience across the full software development lifecycle (design, development, testing, and production)
- Drive best practices in software development, CI/CD, DevOps, and system architecture.
- Ensure timely and efficient software delivery while maintaining technical excellence.
- Identify and mitigate risks early in the development lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and cloud-based applications.
- Proficiency in CI/CD, DevOps, and scalable infrastructure.
- 2+ years managing or mentoring engineers, with experience in hiring and talent retention.
- Proven ability to grow engineers through coaching, goal setting, and performance reviews.
- Strong project and program management skills, with experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Ability to work with product manager and translate business objectives into engineering priorities.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills to align teams across functions.
- Bachelor's degree on the related field
Nice to have: - Experience scaling engineering teams in a new location or remote setting.
- Background in large-scale distributed systems.
