Position Summary:
The Human Resources Coordinator will report to the Regional HR Manager with dotted line to Plant Manager and will be responsible for the ITW Appliance New Berlin, WI manufacturing and office location. The HR Coordinator provides day-to-day HR support and policy administration relating to all phases of the employee life cycle (e.g. hiring, training, employee relations, promoting an engaged culture and learning & development). Provides technical expertise, reporting & analytical support. This person will actively participate as a member of the HR team to identify, recommend, develop and implement HR programs and practices that deliver required results in support of the overall Division goals. Liaises with other HR colleagues within the Division, Segment and Enterprise and manages special projects as needed.
Job Description
Essential Duties Responsibilities:
- Serves as payroll coordinator for the plant including but not limited to accurately managing biweekly payroll processing, act as subject matter expert for use of payroll system, provide manager/employee training related to payroll matters.
- Manages employee relations to ensure a consistent application of policy and practices, including coaching/counseling, employee investigations, progressive discipline and problem resolution. Escalates issues to Regional HR Manager.
- Works closely with management and team members to drive and sustain culture initiatives that focus on safety, employee engagement, positive and fun work environment, increased productivity and retention.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees based on trust and credibility, ensuring a positive company image.
- Works with functional management to support full cycle talent acquisition needs. This includes support with job descriptions, sourcing candidates, interviews, offers and on-boarding. Also manages third party recruitment activities and temporary staffing contracts and orientation.
- Maintains knowledge of state and federal labor laws and reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are compliant.
- Maintains employee information, personnel records, and HR files. Processes employee data in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS).
- Local Champion for college internship program.
- Communicates and manages leave of absence programs and workers compensation claims.
- Looks for continuous improvement opportunities of historical programs or simplifying HR processes using the ITW Toolbox.
- Supports the performance management and compensation process for non-exempt and exempt employees in New Berlin.
- Responds to inquiries regarding benefit programs, policy administration, etc. and educates and supports employees in the use of the self-service applications available to them.
- Highly involved in business unit wellness program management, community giving campaigns, and Employee Resource Group activities.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related discipline required.
- Previous relevant internship experience and 2+ years of experience in Human Resources required.
- HR experience within a manufacturing environment highly preferred.

- Proven ability to understand HR related needs within the business, engage in proactive feedback and recommend solutions.
- Excellent computer skills required with MS Office suite software and Outlook. Excel experience is a must.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, an effective and active listener and have effective interpersonal, persuasive, and analytical skills. Professional communication skills across diverse cultures and managerial levels.
- Able to maintain composure under pressure and in dealing with emotional or confrontational circumstances.
- Skilled in conducting presentations in an individual and group setting. Experience in organizing and conducting employee trainings a plus.
- Able to use good judgement and discretion with confidential information.
