Job Description
As a key member of the operations team, the Plant Manager reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for leading all manufacturing operations for the facility including safety, manufacturing, planning, purchasing, maintenance, quality, technical operations, inventory management, engineering, sales and accounting. The Plant Manager leads a team of 5-7 direct reports, a total team of 50 employees and supports the Director of Operations and the broader leadership team to achieve business unit goals and objectives.
This position is located at the ITW Heartland facility in Alexandria, MN.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Direct, lead, and promote site leaders to develop a safety culture mindset
- Strive to achieve zero safety incidents
- Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations that exceed our customers’ expectations
- Lead company development of Annual Plan and Long-Range Plans
- Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility
- Manage operational costs in line with annual plan
- Maintaining high quality standards
- Develop and implement clear KPIs
- Drive ITW Toolbox continuous improvement projects throughout entire operation
- Understand and manage plant P&L to achieve maximum financial results
- Assure compliance with OSHA, state and national regulations concerning safety, waste management, water management, and hazard controls
- Identify, lead and develop talent to maximize individual, team and organizational effectiveness in meeting company goals
- Lead efforts in selecting and on-boarding talent
- Communicating effectively to foster a culture of engagement, cascading vision, creating goal alignment; and coaching through feedback, development planning and performance management
- Able to build and develop a strong and diverse team
- Direct plant leadership in the coordination, communication, and attainment of daily /weekly production schedules assuring customer needs/commitments are met on an MRD basis
- Assures quality processes are consistently applied in all production facilities
- Apply capacity scheduling model and manage manufacturing capacity and constraint issues to maintain customer service levels and meet delivery commitments
- Utilize systems and resources to proactively maintain and conserve capital equipment, including driving pro-active preventive maintenance and repair programs
- Prioritize issues and activities to develop sustainable improvement in equipment performance
- Monitor raw material purchasing and inventory control to ensure on-time raw material availability to production based on MRD demands
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or technical related degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, manufacturing experience preferred
- Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
- Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
- Computer proficiency within Windows based environment. Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite software (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
- Demonstrated experience in successfully leading and implementing continuous improvement and process and production management with programs/principles such as: 80/20, MRD, USa, In-Lining, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and change.
- Attention to detail, well organized and able to solve problems.
- Ability to manage time in order to complete multiple tasks by required deadlines.
- Travel up to 10%
