Job Description
ITW Hartness is looking for a Summer 2025 Manufacturing Engineering Intern. The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will focus on improving the outcomes of various processes so that, by mapping all the inputs and outputs of a defined business process, a Manufacturing Engineer Intern is able to recommend ways to improve efficiency, reduce cost or increase customer satisfaction. The Manufacturing Engineer intern develops and measures standard metrics, develops a project plan for implementing improvements and monitors the new process to ensure it works as intended, works with front-line staff and trains employees on continuous improvement subjects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyzing and reporting quantitative data
- Generating and reviewing SOPs
- Utilizing lean manufacturing tools to assist in preparing detailed layouts of plant facilities to optimize material handling and product flow
- Position will act as the primary resource for investigating, troubleshooting, and providing solutions for any process problems
- Coordinating successful kaizen events with quantified success including assessment and effective sustainment of standard work
- Coaching and training operational supervisors and staff to apply, support, sustain and develop a Continuous Improvement culture
Qualifications
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
(Applicants not meeting the minimum requirements will not be considered for the position)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering
- Must be proficient in MS Office Suite especially Excel for data analysis. Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform such as PowerBI, PowerApps, PowerAutomate is a plus.
- Knowledge of facility layout planning
- Ability to apply innovative approaches to solve problems
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S and Six Sigma
- Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Communication skills and teamwork
- Work under minimal supervision
