Job Description
SUMMARY
The Materials Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing ITW’s inventory and materials management program to ensure inventory transactions are accurate, and materials and supplies are available as needed to ensure no production downtime. Oversee accurate customer orders are in the system and reported to the production team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for assuming lead in APQP, DECN, EOP and SOP as it relates to the materials department.
- Responsible for ensuring company goals for inventory grading and MOH are met.
- Oversee requests for master data set up and changes within the ERP system.
- Offer new ideas and suggestions for improvement. Identify and implement new best practices.
- Maintain integrity of master data by performing monthly/quarterly audits to ensure that the data has been set up properly in the ERP system and in compliance with the standard.
- Establish stock levels in accordance with the build plan and usage rates.
- Manages finished goods receiving and scrap inventory transactions and personnel as needed.
- Hires, trains, and deploys personnel as needed to ensure goals are met.
- Responsible for communicating with all department managers for any shortages and proactively initiate programs to prevent recurrence.
- Manage inventory cycle program and input data into system for accurate record keeping.
- Works closely with manager and the accounting team on effective inventory record-keeping to ensure compliance.
- Oversees that team members review customer orders for large changes and adjusts vendor releases accordingly
- Responsible for continuous improvement of the entire material process.
- Oversees entry of vendor and customer purchase orders and pricing into the system.
- Documents and maintains operational procedures, develops and oversees project plans, and implements change control procedures to ensure inventory efficiencies.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has direct supervisory responsibilities and carries out these responsibilities in accordance with ITW’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, coaching for performance and resolving problems.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years planning experience in a manufacturing environment (Automotive preferred)
- Experience with Material Requirement Planning (MRP).
- Demonstrated work history of cross-functional project management.
- Knowledge of Trans4m system or similar required
- Good math skills and aptitude.
- Familiar with or have experience with purchasing procedures.
- Proficient user of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem resolution capabilities.
- Demonstrate sense of urgency with respect to achieving on-time delivery and quality goals.
- Ability to work well under pressure and to meet multiple and occasional competing deadlines while maintaining a cooperative working relationship with other employees and Manager.
- Must be highly organized and able to execute task in a timely manner.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to work overtime.
- Be punctual and adhere to company policies.
COMPETENCIES
- Technical and Analytical Skills
- Understanding of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, calculations of percentages, measurement conversions).
- Strong working knowledge of Windows applications and Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel.
