Job Description
As the Controller, you will play a key role in the financial operations of our NASDAQ-listed company, headquartered in Newton, MA, and majority-owned by Informa PLC, a FTSE 100 company. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of financial accounting, reporting, and analysis. Success in this position requires you to be a seasoned finance professional with extensive expertise in US GAAP and SEC regulations, ensuring the highest levels of compliance and accuracy in all financial practices.
In addition to driving financial excellence, you will lead critical functions such as reporting, planning, and analysis, while managing day-to-day accounting operations, tax compliance, and treasury management. Below is an overview of the key responsibilities you will undertake in this vital role:
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including quarterly and annual reports.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations.
- Manage the external audit process, including coordination with auditors and providing required documentation.
- Review and analyze financial results to identify trends and potential issues.
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Develop and implement strategic financial plans and budgets.
- Conduct financial forecasts and analysis to support business decisions.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide insightful reports to management.
Accounting Operations:
- Oversee the general ledger and ensure accurate and timely entries.
- Manage the accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls.
- Supervise the accounting team and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Tax Compliance:
- Manage the company's tax compliance obligations, including federal, state, and local taxes.
- Work with external tax advisors to optimize tax strategies.
Treasury Management:
- Manage cash flow and liquidity.
- Oversee banking relationships and optimize borrowing costs.
- Manage foreign exchange risk.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA certification required.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a public company setting.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC regulations.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, analysis, and planning.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting software and systems.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
