Young artists from around the world gather at Interlochen each summer to learn, create and perform alongside leading artists and instructors. Theater Arts Instructor/Designer

This position serves as the core faculty member for the Design & Production students at Interlochen Arts Camp. Responsibilities include developing and implementing design and production curriculum, facilitating a lighting lab, coordinating the apprenticeship program, mentoring young designers and technicians, and guiding campers through the process of set design and creation for the Junior Musical Theatre Production. The Instructor of Theatre Arts is expected to attend departmental and production meetings. Requirements of this position include a collaborative, creative spirit and a bachelors degree in design or technical theatre, a masters is preferable. Experience working with high school students is preferred. Salary is a range from $2800-3200, based upon experience, for the seasonal six week contract, which includes lunch and a daily on-campus housing stipend.

Instructor of Theatre Arts

Opening in Director of the Intermediate Musical Theatre Workshop & Director of Junior Musical Theatre Production. The Instructor of Theatre Arts will teach classes and/or direct productions within the Theatre Arts division. Major responsibilities include attending weekly departmental meetings and weekly production meetings, creating appropriate curriculum for the skill level of the campers. Qualifications include MA or MFA preferred, BA or BFA required. The Director of Junior Musical Theatre Production directs the junior musical theatre production and oversees all aspects of preparing the play for performance.This position will also teach a one-hour acting class to juniors on a daily basis. Qualifications include a MA or MFA in Theatre and educational and professional experience. Salary varies per position but begins at $2800.00 for 6 weeks and includes lunch daily and a daily housing stipend.

Acting for the Camera Instructor

This position is responsible for creating and implementing a 3-week Acting for the Camera curriculum. Major responsibilities include screening applicants to the program, developing a curriculum, teaching a 4 hour block daily classes, communicating with Motion Picture Arts department, setting up and operating technical equipment needed for classroom exercises, and attending weekly departmental meetings. Qualifications for this position include a MA or MFA in Film or Theatre and significant professional and/or educational experience. The salary for this 3 week position is $2,000 including lunch and a daily housing stipend.

Assistant Director/Choreographer

The Assistant Director/Choreographer assists the choreographer of the high school musical theatre production. The Assistant Choreographer will assist in choreographing in staging of musical numbers, taking notes during rehearsals, assisting campers in learning choreography, lead daily warm-up, attend weekly departmental and production meetings. This position will need to match choreography to the skill levels of the campers. The Assistant Choreographer will work to maintain the integrity of the choreographer’s vision. This position is expected to be able to lead a rigorous physical warm-up for the cast. The assistant choreographer will be expected at all rehearsals unless otherwise specified by the director. A BFA in Musical Theatre or Dance is required. Professional and/or educational experience is expected. A competitive salary is included along with room and board.
