Job Description

Primary Function of Position

Develop, Validate and Continuously Improve tools and processes involved in the manufacture and test of capital equipment used for minimally invasive robotically assisted laparoscopy. This role will report to the Senior Manager of the Process Engineering Org supporting the Single Port (SP) platform.

Essential Job Duties

  • Design, qualify and release tools, fixtures, and processes.
  • Assist in design reviews with a focus on DFX methods.
  • Write validation protocols for equipment and PPQ Protocols for line level qualification.
  • Create work instructions for assembly and test processes.
    • Train technicians or trainers on new build content and incorporate feedback.
  • Manage and examine data for CPK and process capability.
  • Support Supplier Engineering, Purchasing, Planning and Quality teams to resolve line facing issues.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Mechanical Design / Tool Design
  • ANSI Y14.1
  • CAD and Solid Modeling
  • MatLab, Python, Mini-Tab, Data Analysis
  • Presentation Skills, powerpoint, visio and MS Project as needed
  • ALM and PLM tools for Engineering Change Orders and Risk Management
  • A continuous improvement mindset

Required Education and Training

  • Minimum 4 yr. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical assembly, testing, and inspection processes and Lean principles.
  • Solid modeling/CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred).

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Excellent problem solving ability, including demonstrated ability to effectively design, execute, report on, and draw conclusions from experiments.
  • Excellent communication, organization, follow-up and documentation skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with technicians, engineers, and management all on a regular basis.
  • Excellent technical skills in prototyping, tooling development and troubleshooting.
  • ISO9001 or experience in medical device manufacturing environment.
