POSITION: UI Designer

REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing

We’re re-envisioning our product strategy, and seeking a talented UI Designer help create a new focused and modernized experience for our customers.

Where you’ll fit in:

You’ll join the Creative Services team within eCommerce/Marketing, collaborating with key management and stakeholders on all app design, plus any other visual design support as needed for our website and marketing campaigns.

In addition to driving online promotion and sales, the eCommerce/Marketing department curates end-to-end customer experience—from advertising to product interaction and beyond.

We’re a highly motivated, closely collaborating cross-functional team that handles application view design, user flows, branding, campaign strategy, copy/visual creation, front-end and back-end web development/deployment to support our application services and website, analytics, integration with our payment and fulfillment service, and more.

We work with Engineering, Business Development, Retail, Corporate Communications, and Support to achieve a wide range of strategic objectives and deliver world-class software through various channels.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing and other key stakeholders/executives to translate business, brand and UX goals into innovative, easy-to-use UI designs to help drive conversion, acquisition and retention.
  • Design with extensibility, potential future requirements, consistency, user needs, marketing strategy, brand identity, localization, UI/UX patterns and industry best practices in mind.
  • Conduct necessary research and gather requirements to develop design sketches, build wireframes, low and high-fidelity interactive prototypes.
  • Create final UI production visuals, interface animation/transition guidance, and XAML. Includes interface layout, navigation, and all related artifacts (icons, buttons, external related landing pages, dialogs, pop-ups, banners, etc.)
  • Work with and alongside the Engineering View Team to implement designs. Collaborate throughout the application view development process with View Team via efficient and confident visual, written, and verbal communication.
  • Ensure consistent visual language and interaction principles are used across all products.
  • Become highly familiar with our software. Understand software architecture, technology improvements/changes, market trends, and competitive offerings—and how this necessarily transforms the UI and customer interation.
  • Iterate and improve on existing software design based on internal decisions and user feedback.
  • Create digital and print content that supports marketing, PR, online advertising, retail, and website campaigns as needed.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Impressive portfolio showcasing diversity, creativity and command of UI design; please indicate your specific roles and contributions for each project submitted as part of your portfolio.
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, user interaction design, user experience design, or equivalent working experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a graphic design or user interaction design capacity, preferably with in-house corporate experience for a consumer-centric brand.
  • Understanding and execution of design and usability best practices, corporate branding, and marketing strategy.
  • Proven demonstration of fundamental design principles for desktop, web, print and mobile that affect typography, composition, color, spatial relationships, and hierarchy of information.
  • Extraordinary passion for strategic design thinking and strong problem-solving skills; comfortable analyzing data and deriving data-driven decisions.
  • Excited to continually learn new skillsets and view objectives from different perspectives.
  • Extreme attention to detail and commitment to delivering work in accordance with predetermined milestones and deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable articulating and debating design choices with peers and executives through written and verbal communications. Maintain integrity, humility, and confidence.
  • Able to approach projects objectively and put personal preference aside to achieve business goals while maximizing quality and usability.
  • Fluency in the Windows OS environment and with PCs.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design and development tools: Expression Blend (Blend for Visual Studio), Visio, Balsamiq or other rapid-prototyping software, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash (or other motion graphics tools).
  • Familiarity with development languages such as HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, WPF/Silverlight (XAML). Note that coding is not required for this position, but is strongly desired as a cross-functional skillset and training/self-motivated learning is expected.
