The Team and Job Summary

As the Vice President of Corporate Development, you will report to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) and be a key stakeholder at a high-growth organization. J.S. Held’s acquisition and lift-out strategy has been a critical element of that growth. J.S. Held has closed on over 60 acquisitions since 2015 and anticipates continuing on this growth trajectory.

This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial, highly driven individual with a well-rounded skill set to join the Corporate Development team. This is a pivotal role, helping shape our future growth and continue our highly acquisitive strategy. Our Corporate Development team is responsible for acquisitions and lift outs, bringing new and innovative capabilities, enhancing existing ones, and expanding our footprint and market opportunities. Our Corporate Development team partners closely with senior leaders across our business units to execute our long-term strategy.

The ideal candidate is hungry; exhibits intellectual curiosity and creativity; has exceptional communication, project management, problem solving, and negotiation skills; has experience diligencing and executing deals; and has excellent business judgement.

Job Description

  • Execute M&A strategy, maintain pipeline, evaluate opportunities, lead diligence activities, and provide general transaction and analytic support
  • Develop research, analyses, and financial models to drive business case development for key strategic focus areas
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Leadership, Finance, and Legal teams to drive enterprise strategy and execution
  • Advise the Executive Leadership Team and Board regarding growth and diversification initiatives to accomplish the organization’s vision; identifies, manages, and reports on barriers and risk factors including financial, operational, project, market, and regulatory risk
  • Develop presentations and present findings to J.S. Held’s Executive Team and Board
  • Research target market segments and assesses new opportunities for growth
  • Monitor the market to keep track of industry developments
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop junior team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of either M&A transaction experience, either in an execution role at an investment bank / Corp Dev / PE position, or at an accountancy focused on Quality of Earnings analyses. Experience with due diligence for professional services firms preferred.
  • Experience in a similar corporate development / M&A role with a strong track record of transactional execution and leadership
  • Ability to create sophisticated financial models and presentation materials to support decisions by J.S. Held’s Executive Team and Board
  • Proven ability to drive business decisions and operate effectively with a high degree of autonomy
  • Strong executive presence, collaborative mindset, and comfort communicating with senior business leaders
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $175,000 - $225,000. Any offered salary range is based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, training, location, scope of role, management responsibility, etc.

Physical and Mental Job Qualifications

  • Must be comfortable to work in a semi-remote environment
  • Must be able to sit for long period of time
  • Must be flexible to work outside of the 8:30am – 5:30pm business hours if needed
  • Must be flexible to travel as needed (approximately 10% of time)
