Job Description
The Purchasing Manager role is a highly visible role focused on the leadership and development of purchasing raw materials while maintaining appropriate inventory levels considering our business objectives. This position will primarily focus on synchronizing processes through system utilization. This individual will lead the development of those processes and strategies with focus on improving cost, quality and service.
DIRECT REPORTS
Currently consists of 3 Sr. Buyers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Job Functions)
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
- Responsible for raw material buying activities including processing requests, order placement, inventory management and on time delivery
- Manage purchasing and materials initiatives including Jack Link’s inventory, supplier managed inventory, consignment, and plant service
- Develop and implement process improvements while achieving and maintaining a high degree of data accuracy, integrity, and ownership within SAP ERP systems
- Manage the buying department and team, ensuring we achieve departmental objectives while fostering a culture of continuous improvement
Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- APICS or equivalent Supply Chain certification preferred
Required Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in executing, managing or leading Supply Chain functions in a similar role in Consumer-Packaged Goods Company
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience with SAP highly desirable
- Experience introducing/working with supply chain solutions, software and systems is beneficia
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Proven thorough:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments
- Strong understanding and experience developing and implementing processes and systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must work effectively with all levels of management and team members
- Must demonstrate effective leadership, problem solving, presentation, and employee motivational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SAP
Additional Information
The salary range for this role is $108,800 - $149,600 (Annually). Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, and candidate skill set and experience. Base pay is just one component of Jack Link’s Total Rewards package for Team Members. Other rewards may include annual incentive and program-specific awards. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a office setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels. When visiting a plant, exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet / slippery floors and varying degrees of temperature and noise levels. However; the vast amount of work is conducted in a climate controlled office. Travel may be required.
