Global Strategic Commodity Manager
Job Description
The Global Strategic Commodity Manager will be responsible for establishing contracts and ensuring the cost effective supply of a commodity category or group of commodities. Additionally, the Global Strategic Commodity Manager will be responsible for developing strategy and investigating across a high portfolio of global suppliers while initiating cross functional projects across the product management, marketing, and purchasing departments.
• Development and execution of long-term supply commodity strategy, landed cost modeling, supplier opportunity assessments, supplier financial analysis, make/buy analyses, negotiations, and long-term contract establishment including LTA and ACRE
• Work closely with product management, engineering, marketing, service, and purchasing to formulate strategies surrounding all products for supplier engagement and total internal buy-in
• Cultivate a solid working knowledge of certain commodity trends including: industry trends, cost drivers, global pricing, material lead times, and technical/manufacturing processes
• Use of the strategic sourcing process when appropriate to test pricing in the supply market and establish best cost contracts (total cost of ownership)
• Establish supplier development processes including the coordination and support onsite supplier assessment/certification audits and continuous improvement activities that drive down total cost
• Investigate and recommend new and/or alternate sources of supply as necessary to support new product development, cost reduction requirements, and/or supplier performance issues
• Responsible for achieving multiple purchasing KPIs including a Commodity Strategy KPI: a goal of leading to value improvements within those commodities, year over year saving, margin improvement, and increased sales
• Ensuring quality components and warranty costs are provided to client
• Systems updated and data integrity for accuracy of commodity information in supporting IT systems
Required Qualifications:
• 7+ years of work experience working
• 3+ years of experience in a role sourcing, purchasing, and working through the supply chain management process
• Intermediate with Microsoft PowerPoint, specifically experience creating and giving presentations
• Intermediate with Microsoft Excel as well as use Excel daily in current or past position
• Working level English language skills (written and spoken), thus strong communication skills and come across as articulate
• Assertive, driven, leader who has experience interfacing with diverse groups of people, including high level executives
• Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Marketing, Industrial Engineering, Business, Economics or Finance
