Job Description
We are currently seeking a Health, Safety and Security Supervisor to join our Garland, Utah, DC3 team. Reporting to the Facility Safety Manager, you will ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations relating to health, safety and physical security. The position also requires providing safety and security expertise to various work groups, including safety committees, department managers and accident review teams. You will also conduct on-the-job training for safety awareness and OSHA compliancy, as well as respond to health and safety inquiries and emergencies. Applicants should have knowledge of risk-management principles, OSHA-compliance techniques, workers’ compensation and regulatory knowledge in OSHA, EPA, ANSI, NFPA and other applicable standards. The ideal candidate will identify, evaluate and prevent health and safety hazards; thus, we are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills who has obtained at least 30 hours of OSHA-authorized training on workplace safety. This full-time position is on-site at our Garland, Utah, location.
A day on the job looks like this:
- Working closely with the Facility Safety Manager, Human Resources, and Safety Colleagues to oversee, deploy and monitor all Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) programs, procedures, policies and standards
- Conducting post-accident and incident Investigations, present outcomes, resolutions and process improvement needs to the Facility Safety Manager
- Training for and promoting a sustainable safety culture for welfare of all personnel
- Assisting with on-the-job training for safety awareness and compliance, including new employee safety orientation, Hazardous Communication, LOTO, AWP, PIT, MEWP and all ANSI- and OSHA-applicable trainings, Emergency Action Response and Evacuation Plans, fire extinguisher use and other applicable programs
- Supervising staff to ensure they help maintain the accident prevention programs, accident reporting systems, post-accident investigations process, near-miss assessment, root-cause analysis and standard operating practice implementation
- Preparing communications to base employee staff as it relates to all OSHA-required daily, monthly and quarterly safety bulletins, charts and displays in relation to accident prevention, emergency reporting, first aid, injuries, etc.
- Developing good working relationships with line management and supporting them in their efforts to abide by safety practices
- Auditing site activities and advising on actions necessary to comply with OSHA, regulatory agencies and company guidelines
- Supervising security coordinators and responding to all issues that relate to security and fire system compliance
- Ensuring that all loss prevention standards are maintained as they relate to campus security, employee safeguards and cargo security
- Maintaining and utilizing all Secure Integration systems—cameras, access, yard management, burglary and fire alarm systems and software
Qualifications
Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with health and safety management, 3–5 years of experience preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of Loss Prevention, Logistics Security or related field experience preferred
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in any technical field preferred
- OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications required; OSHA 511 or 501 certification a plus
- CPR certification required
- PIT and MEWP certifications preferred but not required
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals and documents
- Ability to prioritize daily workload with limited supervision
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of DOT guidelines and requirements for driver logs, driver qualification files and DOT vehicles
- Accessibility after work hours to address safety issues should they arise
