NASTAD (National Alliance of State & Territorial AIDS Directors) is a leading non-partisan non-profit association that represents public health officials who administer HIV and hepatitis programs in the U.S. Our singular mission is to end the intersecting epidemics of HIV, viral hepatitis, and related conditions. We do this work by strengthening domestic and global governmental public health through advocacy, capacity building, and social justice.
Each of NASTAD's six programmatic teams - Health Care Access, Health Systems Integration, Drug User Health, Hepatitis, Health Equity, and Prevention - interpret and influence policies, conduct trainings, offer technical assistance, and provide advocacy mobilization for U.S. health departments and ministries of health around the world to improve health outcomes for people living with HIV and viral hepatitis.
Job Description
The Manager, Health Equity, plays an essential role in supporting the implementation and dissemination of evidence-based interventions identified by NASTAD’s Center for Innovation and Engagement (CIE). CIE is leading a collaborative partnership with Northwestern University’s Center for Prevention Implementation Methodology and Howard Brown Health Center to identify, catalog, disseminate, and support the replication of evidence-informed approaches and interventions to engage people living with HIV (PLWH) who are not receiving HIV care or who are at risk of not continuing to receive HIV care. The project’s end goal is to support the replication of identified interventions into real-world implementation by Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) and HIV care providers.
- Serve as a liaison between intervention developers and the project team as developers create materials (webinars, TA resources, etc.) to support intervention replication in the field.
- Work with Northwestern University to evaluate the impact of intervention how-to-guides.
- Support the development of training materials and presentations for the Center for Innovation and Engagement website.
- Assist with publication of project outcomes in academic journals, conference coordination, and broad dissemination.
- Support health equity initiatives and help develop health equity evaluation measures.
- Participate in cross-agency meetings to discuss activities and deliverables.
- Attend monthly staff and Health Equity team meetings.
- Participate in teambuilding and leadership development opportunities.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience/Education
- Bachelor degree or higher in public health, sociology, social work, psychology, or related fields; or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Minimum of 4-5 years of progressively responsible work experience related to public health, research, or health equity programs preferred.
- Experience working in HIV service delivery, community-based organizations, or other grassroots initiatives preferred.
- Experience working with diverse groups that have been historically underserved and underrepresented preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Advanced technical writing and editing skills.
- Experience and strong interest in evaluation and implementation science frameworks.
- Experience developing and delivering engaging training content.
- Understanding health equity and a commitment to incorporating social justice concepts in public health programming and supervisory approaches.
- Demonstrated commitment to cultural humility and responsiveness.
- Experience and a strong interest in developing training content with a focus on intervention replication.
- Experience providing training and technical assistance to health departments and clinical providers.

Environment and Scheduling

- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time when it is safe to do so.
This position is full-time, based on available funding, with the start date determined at hiring.

Salary Range: To be determined at hiring. The starting range for the position is $62,000 to $68,000, depending on experience.
