Job Description

CNBC’s fast-growing executive memberships business, CNBC Councils, is seeking a creative and ambitious Senior Director to lead sales, marketing operations and engagement. CNBC Councils convenes and super-serves leading Chief Executives, Chief Financial Officers and C-level Technology and HR leaders with industry insights, thought leadership opportunities, and peer-to-peer networking.     

The Senior Director will drive CNBC Councils’ commercial success by developing and driving sales and marketing strategies that empower a team of sales and engagement experts to deliver budgeted annual membership starts, while optimizing for key factors such as pricing, retention, client satisfaction, member quality and more.  

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

What you'll do: 

Membership Development & Experience  

  • Setting annual targets for Sales team and supporting their achievement with well-articulated strategy, creative marketing messaging and materials, and lead generation. 
  • Working closely with Marketing teams to design and deploy efficient performance marketing programs in concert with brand awareness campaigns.  
  • Analyzing customer feedback, competitive landscape and other relevant data to make product optimization decisions, develop new offerings and to advise editorial leads on programming direction.  
  • Partnering with Production and Editorial to lead the planning and project management of 4 CNBC Councils Summits per year 
  • Attending CNBC Councils events to support teams onsite and engage with C-Suite clients 

Operations & Partnerships 

  • Partner with SVP, CFO and other finance stakeholders to develop annual budget strategy to deliver growth across multiple KPIs and then track progress throughout year 
  • Ensuring all CNBC Councils stakeholder have key metrics and tools necessary to make critical decisions as the business scales.  
  • Advance the CRM in partnership with Product team as well as optimization of consumer facing marketing website   
  • Developing partnerships with NBCUniversal divisions that may offer value to CNBC Councils members

Qualifications

What you'll bring: 

  • 8 + years of experience in B2B sales, Sales Strategy and/or Sales Management – Events, or account management, preferably in membership programs professional events for executives
  • Excellent verbal written skills and ability to collaborate with key cross-functional partners in editorial
  • Knowledge of critical issues facing C-level individuals
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills with a proven ability to synthesize complex analyses into easily interpreted recommendations to senior management and key stakeholder, sharing insights and making recommendations. 
  • Familiarity with events and negotiating vendor deals  

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills 
  • Experience collaborating with journalists and newsroom partners a plus
  • Understanding of the news industry, the broader media industry, and relevant business models 
  • Proven track record of hands-on Excel modeling & PowerPoint presentation experience 
  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with multiple levels of management, ranging from senior corporate executives to business unit managers and third parties, in a fast-paced, innovative, and highly energetic corporate culture. 
  • Ability to successfully collaborate as part of a team and to serve as a mentor to the more junior team members. 
  • Proven ability to work under deadline pressures with minimal supervision and a willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to drive tasks to completion.
